In order to get a space family, you have to marry one of your adults to a Sunnytchi via the dating show or if your friend has a Sunnytchi. In doing so, they will have one egg, which will hatch a boy.

The growth is as follows:

Baby=Iwatchi

Toddler=Hoshitchi

Teen=Mikazukitchi (sorry if I misspell this)

Adult=Sunnytchi

Parent=Planetchi

Actually I remember getting a girl space character, I think it can be any gender, but the gender doesn't affect the life cycle.
