Pixels dead or not showing up all the time...

What could the problem be? Old Battery? When I got it in the mail today I pulled the tab out and hit the reset button since nothing happened. Put a newish battery in (batteries new in package, but I've had it for about 2 years I think) hit reset again and only the lower right quadrant shows pixels the other left quad shows faded pixels, and the upper two don't really show unless you push all the buttons at once there are a few random ones that appear.

Could this be a battery problem? A dead screen? It was brand new in package, from '96/'97 never opened. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks guys, I really hop there's a solution otherwise I'll be quite sad because I've been searching for 7 years for this version Finallly found one and now it doesn't work :'(

So I think I may have figured it out...if I squeeze it at the top the pixels show up, so we know that they work. Now I just need to find a small enough srcrew to see if maybe it just needs to be tightened up a bit at the top half.

Yup. Just open it up and tighten all the screws, they're probably loose; And see if there's any corrosion at all.

Sweet! It worked! I was so sad until I read about tightening the screws! It works perfectly now. Dodged that ball.

Sometimes, people buy the item used..... but they rip out one of the contacts for the screen. (the pink rubber part in the screen.)
