I'm trying to find an efficient way to put my Tamagotchis away.

Right now, they're all collected in a box. And that box no longer closes properly...

I'd like to sort my Tamagotchis so that they're a tad more organized.

So that got me thinking. How do you organize your collection? Do you just shove them away in a box? Do you have some special place for it? I'd love to see how some of you hide away your treasures!

On a spare bookshelf might be a good idea. I have all my Tamagotchi virtual pets and merchandise on a shelf of my cupboard, stuffed together in any way that fits. The only problem is, when I want to play with one of the toys I can't get to, everything gets out of order. :p

Hi nerdbot,

Can't say I have too many ideas... but to show you that you're not alone, I've uploaded some pictures of my incredibly messy box. I tend to keep all tamas that have packaging (mostly vintages and a few japanese connections) in an airtight box that sits on the edge of my desk. Kinda hoping these pictures work as I've never embedded photos within a post before... yeah they don't work. Oh well. Next time!

Up until very recently (yesterday in fact!) I kept each of my connections in a little piece of bubble wrap. Then my TMGC+C arrived and the box was overflowing, so I gave the connections a home of their own :)

I separate the three layers with some bubble wrap, and keep the keychains in the centre so they don't scratch the shells. All my connections fit perfectly... although there are some rogue osu mesus in there at the moment. My grandmother is never getting her cookie tin back.

Thankyou Tamamum for fixing my pictures!

Well i have a large tin for all my tama stuff and inside are the packages and things and also a large box inside each one of my babies is wrapped up in bubble wrap and gently placed in the box, I have them organized for the oldest on the bottom, so it goes vintages first then my connections in their release date order.

I always keep mine in a book shelf, I hate putting them away and never to be seen, I love coming home at night sitting in my living room and looking at them all set up on my shelf... but with that said I usually put the packages in a box and put the box on top of the shelf <3

It depends if you want them to be seen or not.

If you want them to be seen: I see many people hanging them on hangers, so you can do that, like the picture above. Or, you can simply make your own things to put your Tamagotchis in, which is pretty fun to do! Maybe if you got lots of clay (which dries later), you can make holes in the clay to put your Tamagotchis in them. :)

If you don't want them to be seen: Many people just put there Tamagotchis in a box because it's easier. That doesn't mean you can't decorate them! I made a Tips For Decorating Your Collection Box topic a while ago if you want to check that out. :)

See, the thing is that I'd love for my Tamagotchis to be seen! But I'm afraid that the sun will cause it to fade. :(

If you look closely here, my (modified) P2 beside my Digimon is faded pretty bad. My Mesutchi is a bit yellow, and my Osutchi is pretty bad too. So I have them tucked away in a box!

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Well I don't think they'll fade unless the sun is shining on them? ouo If just being in a room with light will make it fade then I guess you'll have to keep them in a box, but I don't see how they'll fade unless its in the sun a lot?

I don't really have a specific way of organizing mine. I usually try to keep all the original connections together in one spot, though.

On a side note, just thought I'd mention that the discoloration will happen regardless of whether tamas are exposed to the sun or not. More commonly with lighter colors like white where it will be most obvious. The kind of plastic used in the 90s on these electronic toys contained chemicals which become oxidized and discolored when exposed to the air. Unfortunately unavoidable.

Ra,

Hey LittleChocoWolf, just curious, what pets are the ones that are laying flat?

I have plastic totes to keep mine in. One tote has all my Ancestors in it, one for v1-v2, v3 in another, and so on. I wrap each one in a sheet of bubblewrap before storing. All totes are small enough to fit in our floor safe. Ra is totally correct- plastic does deteriorate/oxidize with time. I also collect Swatch watches, plastic cased, and am painfully aware of this. Sometimes the plastic will become so brittle the item will fall apart in your hand.

Does anyone know of a place other than Ebay to find really cute, Japanese storage boxes for tamas? I see people with such adorable and pink boxes or chests, and I want them. :3

I have some super cute ones from Michael's craft store. I've seen some cute ones at Target as well.
