I played the harp once. It was a pain.

Now I just play the keyboard/piano. Too bad there is no place in the Orchestra for that (Where I live, at least) :furawatchi:

Heh, piano IS a string, but school orchestras choose not to use it. They should, I wanna learn piano. It's a beautiful instrument.

I want to play the cello. but we don't have a orchestra program in our school. xP

I always wanted to play Harp. Doesn't it play by Bass Clef?

^I think so.

~

I used to play for my school, but my new teacher had MAAAJOR anger problems. >< I played viola. I thought I'd keep,like, you know, teaching myself, but my parents are gonna return it to the music store. x.x I tried teaching myself some of the stuff, I wasn't good at it. xD Right now I'm learning acoustic guitar, but none of the orchestras around me that I know of include that. I'm also learning piano from my mom.

Piano isn't a string. You hit the keys to make the sound so it's more like percussion.

Trust me, I've tried to force them to let me keep it, but seriously, they're hard-a**es sometimes. >< But I'm happy with guitar and piano. I'll miss Viktorrr though. That was my viola's name. Yes, it had 3 R's. xD

I play viola in orchestra. I tried out, got the orchestra I tried for but then realized I prolly could have made the higher one. So I asked him if I could retryout - he actually said yes [very very rare, but violas are running low] and I was supposed to have two long lessons this week but my teacher's wife just had surgery and I won't have any!!!!

I'm so screwed. D:

It has strings inside it.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Aww, that stinks T/WP, I probably couldn't live without orchestra D:
I know but you don't move the strings the same way you would a violin or a viola. You hit the keys to move the strings, so it's considered percussion because you hit the keys.
Well...I can think of three reasons why Piano isn't in the Orchestra.
1) It is too big to lug around (Unless it is electric. But then read number 2) if you go on "tour" as I call it.
2) An electric piano doesn't sound like a real piano. To me it sounds like an out-of-tune xylophone. X_x
3) It kinda sounds "above" everything else.
Usually when you play the Harp, there are colored strings to tell you what note is what. But my school is too cheap to buy one so we have to settle for a big washboard-like thing that which is our so-called "Harp". Yuck.
Ewwy. D:
Lady of Sorrows:
Do/did you rent your viola at Music and Arts? I was just curious. xD
