I'm just curious b/c on May 30th I'm getting braces.

Could someone give me advice? I know that I can't eat anything hard, sticky, chewy, or anything like that, and that I need to be very careful about brushing and flossing.

i hav braces now and i am not going to lie to u .... THEY HURT! i hav had them for about 3 weeks now and i am just getting through because i can't eat popcorn if u hav any concerns just ask me

I used to have braces, when I was in High School - It's really not so bad. Mine only hurt when I got them put in and had them tightened. Now my teeth are really straight and now I have wires at the back of the front 6 teeth [Top & Bottom].

I had braces from 7th to 9th grade. They're not as bad as some people make them sound.

I need them again on my bottom teeth though x.x I didn't wear my retainer after I got them off so the shifted back to being crooked. My top teeth shifted back a little bit, but they don't bother me as bad as my bottom teeth do. There's just a small gap.

I don't have them now, but I'll be getting them at the end of the summer, probably. The dentist said after all my teeth come out, I'd have to wear them for a year. But I still need a few teeth to grow in. They're so slow!

I hope the braces don't hurt.

I'm supposed to get braces too, but I keep putting it off. My friend has braces, and she says they'll drill holes in your teeth.

Ouch.

About the no popcorn thing, my friend (she's had braces for almost 2 years) says that you can just crush the popcorn with the top of your mouth or let it dissolve from your saliva, then swallow it.

And for the drilling holes thing, don't worry. They don't do that. Read this for information on how braces get put on.

I have a question for all of you with braces: How exactly do you floss with them? I may have to get braces sometime in the next year, and I like to take very good care of my teeth. I have trouble flossing with normal floss, so I use flossers. Would I be able to still use my flossers?

according to my mom, i don't need em. My sis has them, and she says they hurt.

I have braces right now, and for the first week or so they hurt, but soon you dont notice them. Just go easy on eating for a couple weeks, and soon you can go back to eating whatever you want.

When you get the braces on, ask to get wax. (Yes gross) but this will be for when the wires and braces are irritating your lips and cheeks and such.

Also for your question fluffums, you thread the floss with this threader or just your fingers and you floss, then take it out and do the rest.

Also, you can still eat popcorn, just not right away. I eat popcorn like I normaly did before I got them, just be careful of kernals and brush good afterwards.

I have braces. Getting them is SOOO easy! It DOES NOT hurt! They just glue brackets to your teeth then open the little "door" (thats what they call it) on each bracket and slip a wire in. Every month they take the wire out and put a new one thats a tiny bit biggar to move your teeth. It may be scary but it's sooo EASY! Good luck! ^.^

You have to stick the floss in between the wire and your teeth and pull it through, then floss as you normally would. I hated flossing with braces. It took forever x.x I rarely did it, heh.

The glue the brackets onto your teeth, then string the wire through the brackets.
