Generation1/2 is the type of character (or just generation) click here to see what differance it makes. as for P1/P2 I don't know...

P1/P2 and Gen1/Gen2 refers to the original Tamagotchi's that were released in 1997.

P1/Gen1 is the same thing

P2/Gen 2 is the same thing.

So some collectors (and older members ^_^ ) still have the first wave of tamagotchi's that were released 10 years ago.

Yes, they have the same shell- they just have different characters programmed into them.

I have a Gen1 and Gen 2 with exactly the same paintwork.

All the old tamagotchis (Gen1/2, angels, oceans, mothra's, genjitch, morino etc.) have the same shell shape, so 'look' the same. Just the characters obtainable in them are different.
