I had my tamagotchi music star, and a few months ago i did "surgery" on it, to study the insides and take pictures of it to give to my friend. I only unscrewed the back to see the motherboard, took pictures and closed it up. after that i downloaded it. I got lazy and didn't put the infra red back on, and it still works fine. It's been like this for about a month now, and nothing has happened. but now, whenever i put the tamagotchi down, it resets. I have to put it down SUPER gently before it can continue to function. Do i need to put the infra red back on or have I done something wrong? And I haven't mentioned that I didn't put back the reset button, but it still works smoothly, other than this reset problem. Have any of you experienced this or know how to solve this by any chance?

IlyaneYanie, disassembling your Tamagotchi can be very dangerous and in logs like binary's where they take apart the Tamagotchis then reassemble them, they always say they are not responsible if you try this and break it. I think you should try putting together all the pieces, but you may have just messed up your Tamagotchi.

Try putting the infra red back in and the reset switch i pull my apart all time to change and clean the screen and mine still work fine

Er, the infra-red cap probably has nothing to do with why it's resetting. Maybe the reset button is pinched between the casing, have you looked at it?..

Also, the buttons' contacts respond to moisture (glue, water, etc.), maybe it got wet on the reset's contacts.

Well, a tama starts the moment a battery touches the recipient and ends the moment the battery is separated. A bump, like when putting it down, could easily result in the battery fast separating then touching again, just like when you put in a new battery, IF the tama is not neatly and hardly screwed together.

It is also not a good idea to leave parts when you screw it together, since dust can get in, and things like tis can happen.

Open it up again, put all the parts in the right places , tighten all the screws and put it back together, it should work now, but be aware of this next time you do a surgery and be careful! :D :D

Good luck, hope I helped!

EDIT: Never mind, just separating sentences to make it look neater :p
