I live in Europe, just to clarify that there's a 99% chance it's not in stores here. Buying on eBay might be a problem, since I'd have to bid (or my parents anyway!). Is there anywhere else I could purchase an Oceangotchi - and what's it like?

I daresay that there is a 100% chance that Oceangotchis (or any vintage Tamagotchi for that matter) are no longer available in stores anywhere. They're not made anymore and are mainly available on Ebay these days. Occasionally, there are TamaTalk members who sell a part or all of their collection, which may include vintage Tamagotchis so you can always keep an eye out in the tBay section for one.
