I was a kid when Tamagotchi first came out. I had a P1 and a couple P2s, and an Angel that I traded online for, as well as an original Digimon. As an adult I tried to get into Tama again and ended up purchasing one of those gigantic Tama Go's along with most of the figurines that go along with it. I could really get into it because for one it was way more complicated than even my old Angel. Not to mention the size, how was I supposed to carry around that thing? Eventually I lost it somehow.

Recently the nostalgic mood has struck again so I researched a bit before deciding on an Connection v3 new in box. Really looking forward to playing it. It seemed like the best of both worlds between ease of use and amount of characters. I hope if I am okay at raising it I can move on to a slightly more complicated Tama. Also any suggestions on what a good step up would be from this Tama would be helpful, would be great if there could be some sort of meaningful play between it and the v3.

Id actually suggest going in order from the versions. get a v1 or v2 too see how you like it then upgrade slowly

It's nice to come across another fan who appreciates Tamas partially for nostalgic reasons. I'm the same way and grew up with P1s during the original Tama generation in the 90's. ^_^ That was one of my favorite childhood memories for sure. Witnessing the craze happen before my eyes was pretty awesome.

I actually jumped from my P1s to a V4.5 to a V5. I'd like to eventually have V1-4 Tamas and an Angel, but I'm in no rush right now. Even though there are obvious differences in the version gaps, I wouldn't say they're overly extreme. I found them very easy to adapt to and learn.

It would be cool to go back in time and play each version in the order it was released. If you have the opportunity to do that, it sounds like a fun thing to try!

I'd love to get a Music Star because judging from videos it reminds me a lot of how the originals looked..Probably also a P2, I remember the kids in my school had Gigapets but Tamagotchi always felt higher quality. I remember linking up my Digimon with a friend to battle at school, that together with yo-yos and you'd think the teachers were dealing with the fall of civilization.

I wouldn't reccomend it honestly. it's quite needy or "busy" not to mention tamatown is gone so a lot of the features are useless and or tedious.

Music Star is REALLY challenging and wouldn't be the best way to go if you're looking for nostalgic Tamagotchis. I'd recommend a Version 1 or a Version 2. :)
