My tama not using items?

Yo peeps wazzz up? i have a question. i bought a pencil and a trumpet but i cant use them. Am i not supposed to be able to use them or is there a certain reason? i did buy and plant and it let me use them. please help.

some items can only be used if you are an adult

That's true. All items except Plant are un-usable unless your tama is an adult!

Some items are only accesible when yout tama is a adult. The chest, plant, fishing rod, teddy bear, robot toy, ring, flowers, ball, clone and some more are accesible when your tama is a baby-teen.
