Ishmael thought for a moment, then sighed as he remembered. "She worked in a textile mill... one that I used to own. One of the overseers fired her, because they found out she had an illegitimate child. At the time, I was so preoccupied, I did nothing to stop it. Then I saw her being arrested."

Marie giggled and cuddled close to him. "Aww, how'd you catch me so fast?" She playfully whined.

Aviance nodded mutely, turning further from him, so he couldn't see.

"Sounds like a crazy life." She whispered. "A lot of things happened, huh?"

"The power of love makes you invincible. Thats how I got you so fast."

Alli blinked, "Me see red face pleasies?"

Ishmael nodded and said, "Perhaps it is god's way of testing me. Or maybe it isn't. Well, whatever it is... I'm grateful for it. It led me here."

Marie said, "Gale, you just met me. And I'm too little for you to love!" She laughed, poking his nose. "You sure are a funny guy!"

Aviance looked up at him for a split second, then quickly looked away again, giggling.

Ishmael said, "Sometimes we try to start anew, to create new lives for ourselves. I know I did." He smiled slightly. "I understand how you feel."

Marie scrunched up her face, then kissed his cheek. "I'm just fooling, silly Gale!" Then, she ruffled his hair.

Aviance giggled again, then said to Alli, "You're being such a shameless flatterer! Really, your compliments are so sweet, but I don't see what you do."

"I'm glad you do." She kissed his cheek. "Not many people understand. Like Gale- he doesn't realize that isn't my name anymore."

"Oh thank you!" Gale smiled.

"I see a lot- I'm a cat. It only makes sense."

I have no idea. we could have had this conversation before, or it could just be deja vu.

Ishmael said, "Sometimes letting go of the past is hard. It's true, I know that much. Old habits tend to stick, from what I've experienced."

Marie smiled up at him, then patted his head fondly. "I'm glad we're best friends, Gale. I've never had a friend before."

Aviance laughed and said, "I mean it more like, I can't see the good things about me, while you can." She led him into the hut, the took him to their make shift bed.

Ishmael said, "Well, what do you want to know about? Ask away, I'll answer what I can." He leaned back in his chair, smiling.

Marie laughed and rested her head on his shoulder. "I really hope so, Gale!" She held up her pinkie. "Pinkie promise?"

Aviance gently laid him on their bed, brushing the hair away from his face. "I love you, you know."

"Where are you from? I notice a slight accent." Azazel asked first.

"Pinky promise." He wrapped his pinky around hers, and then stroked her hair.

"Why do like to touch my nasty hair so much, love of my life?" He grabbed her hand. "It's all gross and curling out..."

Same. and I'm tired. And I don't want to work tomorrow Dx I want to sleep in.

Ishmael said, "Well, I'm from the far north, up in the mountains. That's where Marie is from, too. A very small village called Helms Grove."

Marie smiled up at him, then rubbed her nose against his. "Thanks for being a great best friend, Gale! I like having a friend."

Aviance said, "because I like you. You're interesting to me." She giggled slightly, then leaned down and kissed his forehead.

whats your job?

"What country though... I don't know the exact location of these mountains. To be honest, we aren't even a part of the mount. Thats just one portal to my shop. Portals to my shop exist all over the earth and in different dimensions. Don't be alarmed, but you will see strange people of different dimensions that look different than we do in my shop. So, technically, the place exists in its own dimension."

"I'm glad." Gale smiled, and then picked her up. He put her on his shoulders, and then began to walk.

"I don't see how." Alli laughed, "other than my strange looks."

I babysit from 7 am to around 4 pm, monday through thursday. except I have to work tomorrow, and I didn't know xD

Ishmael said, "I honestly don't know. The way I was raised, all I needed to know was Helms Grove. We were an independent village, really."

Marie said, "Gale, where are we going?" She peeked down at his face, raising an eyebrow.

Aviance said, "You just... you're amazing, really."

Azazel nodded. "What kind of place was this?" She whispered, curling into his side.

"I'm showing you my butterfly room." Gale smiled up at her.

"Well thank you, Avian." He leaned up, and kissed her cheek.

I have to get up at 6:20. that's earlier than I got up during the school year. D:

Ishmael said, "It was quaint and small, and everyone knew who everyone else was. It was very very cold in the winter, and very mild in the summer, never hot. I loved it there."

Marie clapped her hands delightedly. "I can't wait to see it! Are there tons and tons of butterflies?"

Aviance kissed him and murmured, "Now, get some rest. I'll stay up and keep watch, okay?"

haha... i woke up at 5 everyday during the school year xD

"Sounds pleasant." She nodded. Azazel was about to say something about where she was from and her past, but quickly shut her mouth. "Tell me about you in your original youth- the teenage years."

Gale nodded, smiling. "Tons. I love butterflies. But the butterflies aren't all real. You'll see." He blew a wind on the door, and it faded to a gray color. He walked through it, into total darkness. "It's a tunnel, so don't be afraid. I'm here."

"It's not fair that I get to sleep when you're the one who takes care of Oliver all day.'

Geez louise! What time did school start?

I'm gonna go. I'll be back later tonight, though, so I'll talk to you then =)

Ishmael said, "Well... I was in jail for nearly twenty years, starting when I was sixteen. I don't really remember much, but there was a ceremony during the spring, where we would greet the new season and say goodbye to the old. It was wonderful, with bonfires, and food, and presents. And it lasted a whole week."

Marie sniffled, whimpering once, afraid of the dark. It reminded her of being locked in the dark cellar at the inn, or going out to fetch water in the dead of night. "It sure is dark in here..."

Aviance said, "Well, you do most of the diaper duty, and you've been through a lot today. So rest. I'll be here when you wake up."

Azazel looked intrigued. "Sounds beautiful." She admitted, "I love fire. I like controlling it..."

"Don't worry." Gale gave her hand a squeaze. There was a light ahead. "We're nearly there." He started to run, and jumped into the light, with her now in his arms. He smiled gently. It wasn't a room at all. There was a small waterfall that fell into a beautiful pool of crystal blue water. The ground was a beautiful green, the grass alive and well. Trees were in the area up ahead. Butterflies flew everywhere- but none of them were real. They were all crystal and glass, each looking unique. "You see the waterfall? There's a hiding place behind it. That's where we'll get married." He looked down at her, smiling.

"If you say so." Alli whispered. "Night."
