I don't normally start topics but what the hey.

I had Max since I was 6 years old and he was my first best friend. I had him for many years. One night few years back...it was November I think, he dissapeared and we never did find him. I miss him to this day. He was a close figure in my life even though he was a cat. He was my cat. He was my Maxwell.

I started my own holiday several months after he dissapeared. I call it Maxwell Awareness Month. All month long in April I celebrate his life, I celebrate how much a friend he was to me and how amazing he was. I also celebrate how others like me have lost a special friend in their lives be it furry or scaly or whatever. Finally, I also celebrate who is still in my today and how much they mean to me, just like Max used to. I bet at least one person who reads this knows what I mean.

Anyway I thought I'd mention this since April is still here, and anyone here who wants to tell me about their special friend they want to celebrate with me is free to do so. I also DJ on internet radio so if you want me to read something on air to honour your friend, I will do so and let you know when to tune in.

Maxwell is succeeded by my remaining 3 cats and 1 dog: Murray, Smokey, Sammy and my dog Marty. They can be a handfull but they are important and I love them all.

Well... It's very sad, but I'm going to share it. Here goes...

Boomer was no ordinary cat. He was a bit chubby, and was creamy

white with orange spots. He had magnificant green eyes that were

green as grass and long white whiskers. He was the first animal I

ever met. When I came home from the hospital, Boomer was in the

car. Most parents would think a baby should not meet an animal that young,

but not mine. When my parents tried to take me out of the car, Boomer stood

over me, his tail brushing over my face. I grabbed it. Tight. Boomer didn't yowel

like most cats would. He gave me a quick nip on the nose. He seemed to think that

I was his kitten. As the years went by, Boomer was still standing strong. He out lived

2 cats. Boomer has lived in eight states, just like me.

Boomer had kidney failure. He could either live for one more week, or die a painless

death. We oh so wanted to keep our Boomer, but we knew it would be best for him.

He passed slowley but surely. It was his sweet sixteen.

So sad.....I hate when animals die...or run away.....Thats why I get nervouse whenever my cats go in my front yard.

Aww.. I know how you must've felt. My sympathy is with you.

Kinda reminds me of my first cat that I had. His name was Pepper. He was black with white paws. When I was 7 I got him for my birthday. He wasn't really like my current cat (he wasn't a people cat, he'd always scamper away when we want to hold him). But on the first day of 4th grade, about 2 1/2 years later, he disappeared and I never saw him again.

Remember to spay/neuter your cat,

Alyssa
