My JAL Tamagotchi, after about 2 seconds after pushing any button, will fade. Looking at the tama straight-on will result in looking at a blank screen.

After said event, you can only see the screen as you would normally if you tilt the tama upwards.

However, the screen will not turn normal [you can sucessfully look at the tama straight-on] if the sound is OFF. You can only look at the tama straight-on if the sound is ON and you have pushed any button.

Note that this is the SECOND JAL version.

Any ideas for why it's doing this? Or is this a natural function of the JAL?

sounds like a low battery issue... see if replaceing the battery works.

Either you need to replace the batteries or the pixel connection is very weak and needs to be cleaned.

The problem is most likely to be low battery's ! Did you use the original ones that came with it? If so that's why, I found this out with my Angel! Remember that when ever you got a vintage Tamagotchi always replace the battery's as there is a high possibility that they will run out as they will be sober 10 years old!
