IrDA and Mac

I got my IrDA usb adapter in the mail for my P's, and I'm trying to set it up on my mac and I'm having no luck at all. I'm not sure if I downloaded the right thing and it's not even sensing the port. I am so confused and this is really irritating me. Does anyone know what to do?

I believe that most USB IrDAs don't work on Mac. Your best bet is a cheap IR cell phone or PDA, a list of which you can find here.

Also, some instructions to use an IR cell phone for data transfers.

I'm sorry that you've already got a device that probably won't work with your computer. If you've got access to a computer with Windows, you could try out your USB IrDA using these instructions.

If no irDA adapter works on OSX, My advice would be try to dual-boot the (superior imo) Windows using Bootcamp.

Also, don't give me stuff about viruses, because macs get viruses too, so you aren't really less vulnerable if you don't dualboot Windows.
