Well, today I'm officially 15 1/2, the age you can get your learner's permit for driving. I asked my mom if she'd let me start driver's ed, and she said no. She doesn't trust me behind the wheel of a car. How can I convince her that I'm ready for this?

D: OH COOL!!

In Canada you can't drive until your

16... ._.

But try asking your mom what you could

do to earn her trust, or just try doing nice

things around your house or something.

Like cleaning your room, doing the dishes

or something like that without her telling you. ^-^

I dunno my idea might sound kinda dumb but

maybe it might work. =P

In the UK, you can't get a learners permit for driving until you are 17yrs and even then most of the accidents on the road seem to be caused by young kids speeding out of control... ;)

I guess if you want to convince your Mum that she can trust you at 15 to start drivers ed then you have to remember to act mature and sensible around her. No teen "blues" or "emo" tantrums, etc. ;)

And it's good advice to ask her how you might convince her that you are sensible enough to be trusted .... but don't ask in a whiney way, but as if you would like to discuss the whole matter sensibly and understand her rationale for refusing.

If you get into a shouting match with her it will just convince her that she's right and you're wrong. Trust me on this one - I've been there and done that ;)

I just started to learn how to drive - I turned 17 about a month ago. You should explain why you want to drive and that your learning so you can drive properly and safely.

My Mum & Dad wanted me to learn how to drive as soon as possible, I can't wait to pass  my boyfriend passed last Friday and he'd only been learning 3 months - His birthday was in October but it took him ages to send off his provisional.

Ask her to take you to an empty road and show her that you can drive and stuff. Or take your drivers ed classes before you get your permit. That's what my brother did (and now he drives himself to school with my mom in the car. He's getting his lisence in August.)

Tell her you wont drive like me xP

The only thing I can think of is just try to convince her that you'll be safe on the road. If you can, go to a DMV and get one of the driver's ed books. They have them for free at the Lynnwood and Everett DMVs.

Study that and ask her to quiz you or something. Try to learn as much as you can about driving and see later on if she'll consider a permit.

If that doesn't work, I'm sorry ^.^' I never really had that problem.

Oh! Also, maybe offer to pay her back for driver's ed once you get a job.
