Well as a lot of you might know, I have a boyfriend. But I'm beginning to feel as if I shouldn't be in a relationship with a younger person, because at lunch the other day, some of my friends and some other girls in school were teasing me about it.

Chris: So Alyssa, how's your little boyfriend doing?

Everyone but me: *giggles*

Kassandra: OMG! Alyssa is dating a 5th grader?

Kassandra: *shouting* Hey everyone! Alyssa's taken!

Everyone: By who?

Kassandra: A FIFTH GRADER!!!!!!!

Everyone: *laughs so loud the whole school might've heard it*

Jocelyn: Where does he live, Alyssa?

Me: About 10 miles from Boston.

Jocelyn: So lemme get this straight - you're dating an 11 year old...

Kassandra: Who lives on the other side of the state. Now THAT'S the weirdest relationship EVER!!

That's when I began feeling bad about myself.

But the big question is - should I break up with him? It's his first relationship, and I don't want to leave him heartbroken.

EDIT: Typos.

Is he a year below you, or two?

It's your choice I don't see a problem with it really. Your friends could be teasing you because they are jelous or just want to make you feel bad. You could ignore them and maybe they'll get bored and stop but they obviously aren't good friends as they aren't teasing you as a private joke it's a joke to humilate you or make you feel bad.

When You older say your 22, he'll be 20 it isn't really a big age different. If you really like/love him you shouldn't break up with him just because your friends don't agree. But if you think it's best that you split up then you should.

OK, thx! I have an idea on what to say now.

EDIT: Yes he's 2 years younger than me.
