Congratulation Kyliesmum! I havent got a Ocean. Are they good? Should I get one?
Oceans are extremely difficult to raise. As soon as Taiyakitchi dies, I'll be posting (in my blog) a log I kept of everything that happened while he was growing. The characters are extremely cute and very unique though! take a look at the characters on
this growthchart! (from mimitchi.com)
The Ocean itself is quite a challenge. They can be a bit frustrating at times. On my first ocean run, I thought I had taken perfect care of it and it died before it even got to the teen stage. A toddler on an Ocean is as needy, or even more needy, than a baby on a V3 or V4... and it lasts for 2 days! I got so frustrated that I sent it to a friend in Spain to have a go.

Half way around the world! But I really started missing it by the time it came back
There's just something about the challenge of an Ocean for me... Not everyone sees it like I do though. If you decide to get one, I strongly recommend looking for a Japanese version first as they typically sell for $30-$40, where a US version typically sells for $80-$150. Japanese Oceans are also much easier to find. Of course, Oceans were made back in the late '90's, so you will probably only be able to find one on eBay or a similar site. They are not available in stores anymore.
Well, good luck if you do decide to get one! If you have further questions, just post them here and I'll do my best to answer when I can.
