I said "no" to her suggestion and I'm wondering if I should beat myself over the head.

Which version Tamagotchi is this question about?
Here's the answer if you have a V3: The matchmaker visiting times are 10:30 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. She will visit at these times for three days, begining a couple of days after your Tamagotchi becomes an adult. In total, she will visit 9 times. (Unless you set back the time on the clock, in which case you can make her show up as many times as you want.)
