First you get the two dots stacked on top of each other (I forgot what it was called now that school's out xD) semicolon, I think... it looks like this : You use it to make smiley faces like or . Then you can get either the lowercase L or the straight line, |. You get the | by pressing SHIFT then press the key that has the back slash ( \ ) and you get a |. So now you have :| !!!

You were close. It's not a semicolon. it's a colon.
