I need to pick a foreign language for high school, and I have narrowed it down to German or French. Which should I take? Please state your reason why you like over the other.
Obviously, it's your decision. I am learning both at the minute, and I get to drop one at the end of this school year, which for me, will be German. My form are very split as to who's taking what, but just ask yourself this question: Are you ever going to use the language? My mum did French and German at school but she's forgotten a lot of German because she didn't use it. She knows quite a lot of French though.

If you are planning to live in a country that speaks German or French, then there's an answer. Or if you are planning a career in one of them.

When I first started secondary school, my mum and a German teacher both told me that French starts off harder than German, but then it gets easier. German is the opposite; it gets harder.

Just think about which you like most, which you are best at and which you are most likely to pursue in adult life (e.g. do you visit France or Germany a lot?).

P.S. I would go for French; if you stick with it and try to learn, it will just click one day and you'll wonder why you never got it before. I don't really understand German anymore. I don't think it makes any sense!

Wow. You're lucky you get to choose... Dx

My school only offers Spanish and French, they asked us to choose in 6th grade. I chose french but I was put into spanish anyway. God I hate that language. D:< It's so boring and annoying.

Personally I think you should choose German. >:3

It's an awesome language. I don't know why... I always found it interesting.

And I know some German bands. x]
