how do i know what species my tamagachi is

Do you have to De-Bug your Tama to get all the new Charaters?

Pleae help[ me. I have a 2 tamagotchi pets, and the box says this:

Tropical Fun V2version.

But i dont know how to find out like what their species is, or what they do. they are just like blobs so far.
