if you havent checked the contacts or springs already in the compartment where the battery/batteries go (not sure what tamagotchi you have) you should check and make sure there's no corrosion on those parts, and if there isnt i'd still clean them with some rubbing alcohol because even without corrosion sometimes dirty contacts have prevented mine from turning on before
