Prudence smiled and said, "Very very old. You see, some of the vampires, instead of trying to go back to grace, joined Lucifer in the fiery pit. They changed others, humans who had lost their way. The vampires who strove for grace did not change anyone. Over time, the number of vampires from hell grew. You see, there are only 400 of the angelic vampires that are still trying to go home. The rest are the ones like us, the changed ones. But then... there is a half blood. Her mother fell in love with a human, abandoning her partner. Because of that, she is no longer awake."

"Wow.." Brandon said, his eye wide with engagment in her tale. And now he knew how exactly he came to be. He knew some vampires that were changed through good will, another vampire trying to save a person's life. He always knew that he wasn't one of those, but he didn't know who had done it or for what reasons.

Prudence said, "Let's see... from your look, you were changed during the 1700s or 1800s. By a vampire who was not all that old. Someone probably changed her out of good will, but she abused her power. The dark angel vampires never come out, you see."

Prudence said, "After they made their first generation, consisting of twenty vampires, they didn't have to lift a finger. The twenty they made themselves would do their work for them. These new ones were weak, they were humans corrupted by vice and sin."

Brandon nodded and then suddenly remembered something Prudence had said about the half blood vamprie. "The half blood.. You said she isn't awake anymore. What do you mean by that? I mean, what happened to her?"

"Oh no, the half blood is still alive and well. Her mother is the one who's asleep. She broke the eternal bond between her and her vampire soul mate, to be with a human. For that, she entered sleep." Prudence explained.

"Well, their kind can. The reason is, an essence of a vampire is saved once they end their cycle. Other vampires volunteer to let the essence develop inside of them, so that way it's a natural birth, and nobody will suspect a thing. Now, for us, I'm not quite sure... Besides, I'm definitely not straight, so I'll never experience it myself."

"I see," he said, again. He himself hadn't known any that were capable, ones of his kind anyway, that's why he had been curious to know. Of course, as he'd said before, every vampire is different, the same as a human, so it would be impossible to give a definite answer.

Max said, "Well, now that we've had that enlightening history lesson, who's ready to party!?"

Of course, everyone cheered. Except for Sadie. She was staring out into space, a look of concentration on her beautiful features. She was thinking about children, and bonds, and that sort of thing. She was glad that Brandon wasn't one of the original 400. Because she'd never be able to be with him if he was.

Brandon smiled, expecting to hear some sort of noise come from the general direction of his knee. He looked down when he heard nothing and chuckled as he saw her, looking like she was in a world of her own. He stroked her hair gently, "Sadie..?"

Sadie looked up at him, upside down. "Yes?" She asked gently, breaking free from her thoughts. She sat up slowly, stretching a bit, before facing him once more. Her eyes looked slightly clouded over, and she was solemn.

"Yeah, sure! Sounds fun!" She said, smiling. But she still seemed off, in her own world. She got to her feet, then offered Brandon her hand.

Sadie nodded slightly. "Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking some things over, that's all." She buried her face in his chest, smiling. "I promise, I'm okay."

Sadie said, "I zoned, my bad." She chuckled, leading him into another room, where the others were congregated. On the walls were tons of paintings, made by Sadie herself. It was bigger than the living room, like a common area for the other, adjacent rooms.

He laughed softly along with her, following into the next room. He liked it in here-- lots of paintings, it reminded him of one of his old places, which had been an expensive, old house in London.
