^Maybe. I started when I was 10 in 4th grade. >< I forget when my mom got hers. Not a subject I'd really like to know. lol My,um, I dunno, 16th or something, ended on Sunday and I'm like, "THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!" Seriously, a week is 7 days too much for me in the first place, but if I had it for any longer, I would go insane!

Ah heh. I started mine yesterday, and I was just wondering, is it normalish to start around 11-12 years old?

Personally I'm not finding it too killer. =P I seem to have a case of the sugar addiction for it, though. o_o Like, almost all I've eatem throughout the day and through yesterdat is icecream. Though today I haven't actuallyhad any yet. Thank god. xPP

It's totally normal to start around 11-12 years old. In fact that is the age most girls start.

You will always hear of or know of girls who started earlier (some as early as 9 years) and some who started later (as late as 16 yrs), but it's generally agreed that most girls start around 11-12yrs. Anything from 10-15yrs can therefore be considered "normal".

Sugar cravings are not unusual either :D

Lots of women report that they crave chocolate in the week before their period (as well as being in a really snotty mood with everyone > PMT (Pre-Menstrual Tension).

Both of these things are normal.

Thank god us guys dont have Periods. That would be plain weird.
Yeah...it would. x.x

~

I always get cravings for either chocolate, fruit, or alfredo sauce. xD NOT ALTOGETHER! >< I don't know why I always want alfredo sauce during my periods, I just do. xD Mmm, spaggetti noodles with alfredo and grilled chicken...8Q Man, now I'm hungry!

^ xDD

< I crave insane things when I get my period. Once I ate (or is it drank? :) ) a whole bottle of BBQ sauce. I also get severe mood swings (More than usual, actually. xD) when it's "my time". Ick.

i think I had my period about a month ago. But the first day I looked in my panties and it was covered in brownish stuff. I knew it was my period though, so is that normal?

Generally, when you have your first period, you will bleed (dark brown / brown / red - it varies from person to person) for several days so there is no doubt in your mind.

If you only think you had your period, it is more likely that you had a couple of days of heavy discharge. That's not totally unusual either. It's kind of like your body gearing up to start menstruation (periods).

It's nothing to worry about and whilst it does mean that your body is getting ready, you could still wait a long while before you actually start having periods - not just weeks, but months and months ;)

Everyone is slightly different in terms of timing, but what you describe has been experienced by many girls in the months before they actually have their first period.

I actually didnt know I had my period! I felt a little wet, but I am pretty used to it, since I get discharge daily. I looked and my underwear was all red. I dont know when Ill have it again, since I only had one period so far. I am guessing around 35 days like everyone says xP

it wont be normal for a year or so. your body is new to this sort of thing and its trying to sort itself out.

i havent gotten it yet...but ive got a bird that does! its CREEEPY!!! i saw blood in the poop today. i was all like you dang bird. now i know its a girl. i know im old because i have a bird that is not even two years old that has gotten it earlier than me!!!

If you're serious about this ... then take your bird to the vet.

Many Mammals get periods.

Birds are not mammals.

If there's blood in your birds poop, then you might want to get it checked out :D

Now, back on topic .... :ichigotchi:

I havent gotten mine yet, I'm hoping to get it when i'm around 16 or 18 years old. I just dont wanna get it during school.

Rar.

I've ended up staining, like, four pairs of panties because the stupid pad won't stay in place. Any suggestions for which kind I should get next time? This time I just played turn in a circle three times and see which one you land at and I ended up with maxi...uhh, four channel protection or something. idunno what it is.

Lawl. Alferdo sauce.

I get cravings for Blue cheese. Please note, I haven't had it in YEARS.

I was trying to "Drink" it out of a glass bottle... xDDD I totally failed it. The results...were delious. =3

Skater girl: Seriously?! Wouldn't you get a stomach ache?

TamaMum: xD

Princess08: If your period is SUPER heavy, get overnight pads(aka, Always Nighttime). Please note, they are uncomfortable...Atleast I think so. Theres also "Always Heavy". The pads are redpaper. Also, if you are at school, and only have one "Thick pad", check if you have any pantyliners. Heres what I do:

1)Put a fresh thick pad on

2)Put a pantytliner ontop

3)Repeat this until you run out of pantyliners

4)Take the panty liner off.

5)Your result should be a fresh/almost fresh pad, if it has like four streaks of blood, thats okay, its better to go with that than nothing. Please note, that if your pad is SOAKED, go to your teacher or nurse imediately! Its unstanitary to keep using a bloody pad(it may even smell.)

SW_Fan: I hope you don't get it in school either, it isn't fun if so. Remember to bring pads/tampons in your purse.

When you first start periods, one of the most annoying and frustrating things is that pads won't stay in place.

It's because you're not used to wearing them and still move freely - as if you weren't wearing one.

Don't believe the ads that tell you their pads give you "total freedom of movement" - it's bull.

There are a variety of different styles on the market and some seem to stay in place better than others - but honestly? It's just a personal thing and a matter of trial and error :furawatchi:

One thing that happens over time is that you begin to move differently (just a little) - enough so that the pad doesn't move around quite so much. You learn to sit down a certain way, or stand or lie down, so that you keep the pad more or less in the right place.

What can I say? It takes a bit of time getting used to periods ... and in the meantime, yeah, you do stain panties - and it happens to pretty much everyone :(

I've had my period once. I'm just about to turn 14, so I was a little later than most people. I had the same problem though. I stained most of my underwear, two sheets, and a few towls. I didn't have a lot of problem during the day, but my pad wouldn't sit right when I went to sleep. I used both regular pads that I use during the day and work great, and my mom's old extra-jumbo sized pads. But gave me blood all over the back of my underwear, and the sheet/towl, depending on what I was sleeping on. xP

I was pleasently surprised to find that the blood washes out very easily... theres just a faint, tannish discoloration in my underwear now. :furawatchi:

I'm worried when it's going to come again. I had it on July 26th, and so it's nearing up to it's month-anniversary. xP Some of my friends skipped 6 months after their first period, some were pretty regular right off. If mine is anywhere near regular, I'll have it right when I'm at the beach, with like 10 of my relatives there. D: I'm leaving this Friday and staying for like 8 days. My period lasts 9-10 days. D:

Now, I could use a tampon. My mom is very open about that, and said that it is completely my choice if I wanna try one or not. I know some people's parents that are pretty strict about that. She said if the whole tampon thing didn't work out this time, I could still swim. It's the ocean. So the water is dark and you won't be able to see it. She said as soon as I'm done swimming though, I'll have to run back up to the beach house (we rent) and put shorts on before I do anything else. What a pain. Dx

So, do you think my period will come while I'm at the beach? Or will it skip a few months? My first (and only) period lasted 9 days, spotting once on the 10th.

Do you think that, if I do have my period at the beach, I can just go in the water as I described above?
