Well if she means bad by it's been out of the packaging and was on the floor then I think yes. But it depends on the way you describe bad. You get TSS when you use a tampon that is not the right one ( like if you have a small flow and you use a tampon meant for heavy flow.)
I don't think that's true o.o' When I had my period I always used really heavy tampons, even when the flow was light. I've never gotten TSS from it.

TSS is caused by leaving a tampon in more than the recommended length of time. I believe it's somewhere around 8 hours.

Even then it's hard to get. I've had a few times where a tampon was in for around 12 hours because of sleep and still nothing bad happened.

is it true that weather you a girly gurl you get your period fast and when your sporty you get your period late?
No not at all! I am not girly at all, and I got my period kinda around the average age (if 12 yrs. old is around average).

Your personality has almost nothing to do with your development. It slightly does, however, because if you vigorously work out and burn fat, you'll go through puberty later then a lot of your peers, as you need to get fat on your stomachs, legs, hips, breasts, and buttocks during puberty.

i'm in 5th grade and we just started "haman growth and development" ewwwwwwwwww it's sooooo disturbing!!!so far we've seen a vid, done three packets(puberty, reprductive, and pregnancy),jeopardy, taking a test on tuesday!!!!

The first time I saw it I was all like "wow, this is DISCUSTING!", but now it's not really a big deal. The more you hear, learn and know about it, the less of an awkwardess there is.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

2 things -

1. My period's about a week away ( NO! ^_^ )

2. We're all out of chocolate and I'm W.C. Ondaedj and I always get chocolate cravings during the week before my period.

This weeks gonna be hard...

pugsrule51996, as tamaw/pants said if you learn more about it (which may seem gross at first) you'll feel much more mature about it and know that it's natural.

Isn't it bad to use tampons while your sleeping? I always thought when you sleep you always have to use pads.

Could be. I've been doing it for years with no problems though.
Maybe it depends on the person. So maybe it's not okay for everyone but okay for some.

I think I'm starting to get the point now. ^_^

My health teacher told me you get TSS from a bad tampon. You can get yeast infections (i think) from having a tampon in for longer than it's suppose to be, but she said if the tampon is a bad one (and you can't really tell) then you might get TSS. Is that true?
Really? I thought a yeasty infection was only when antibiotics caused a chemical imbalance down there. I'm not too use that thing about tampons causing yeast infections are true :p I know if you keep a tampon in there a lot your vagina gets dry, so sometimes i recall letting me bleed a bit for an hour or so before putting another one in.

And TSS is rare. A tampon would have to be in you a long time to cause problems. It's recommended no longer than 8 hours just to keep the risk as low as it is. Sounds like your health teacher needs to get taught more herself ;)

When I first got my period, I was 11. Was going to turn 12 in 2 months. It hurt sooo bad! And it lasted for a week and 2 days. BAD cramps. But you'll get over it. It wont be like that for your whole life. You only have the strongest cramps when it's your first time getting it.

(B.T.W) I'm 13 now.

Some people never get cramps I never got a cramp untill the pill (everyones different). And I started quite late I was at the end of year 9, so I was like 14 - I think it seemed later because most of my friends had already started in year 7.

Wha-wha?! OK, I'm 11 and a half, and STILL no discharge! :) Is there something wrong with me??? ^_^
No definitely not. It can begin showing up at 8 yrs or even 15 yrs old. Either way it's normal.

Read this, especially the sentence in bold print. (from puberty101.com)

Age Range: Usually 9-15. Average: 12-13 Breast growth continues, and pubic hair coarsens and becomes darker, but there still isn't a lot of it. Your body is still growing, and your vagina is enlarging and may begin to produce a clear or whitish discharge, which is a normal self-cleansing process. Some girls get their first menstrual periods late in this stage.
You haven't even reached the approx. average age yet, so your perfectly normal. But if you pass age 15 without seeing any discharge, you might need to see your doctor.

I doubt there is something wrong with you, everyones different and start different things at different times. Maybe your just earlier than your friends.

If you are worrying about it you should talk about it with your mum/family.

I got a yeast infection a few months ago. And I got it from a boy. But usually a girl gets a yeast infection from leaving a pad in there underwear too long. I never heard of tampons doing it, but it could be...I dunno.
