Does anyone have any of Hasbro's FurReal Friends? Successors to Furby, these are a line of realistic looking robotic animals. Most of what's available is the smaller FurReal newborns. These are interesting but being based on newborn baby animals there's not a lot to them since newborn animals don't do much. It's with the larger more advanced animals that the line really shines. I've been collecting FurReal dogs since February and I've got quite a few. Mostly newborn puppies but I have a few other FurReal dogs that do a bit more than the newborns. It wasn't until recently I was able to acquire one of the more high end FurReal Dogs.
The newest addition to the line is Cookie, My Playful Pup. I've been wanting one of these since I first read reports about them in February. This month I was finally able to acquire one.
I've owned all kinds of virtual pets but this is by far my favorite. Interactive and well animated, if you like dog VPets they don't come much better than Cookie. He responds to petting as most FurReals do, but he also responds to being talked to and fed. If you speak to him, Cookie will turn his head in your direction and bark back. Feeding is done by pressing down gently on the tongue. He comes with a rubber bone to chew on but it isn't required to feed him. Your finger or anything else will do. According to the manual he also has touch sensors on his cheeks and back. His head sensor is obvious but I can't feel anything in his back and cheeks that feels like a touch sensor. He does seem to respond when you pet him in these places though.
There are all kinds of animals in the FurReal line. Dogs, cats, Chimpanzees, elephants, horses, parrots, ducks and more. There's pretty much something for everybody.
