Now that I have a P1 Rerelease and a P2 Rerelease, I decided to do a little mixing-and-matching.
I started with the screen. It seems that the technical part of the P2 Remake screen is the same as the P1 Remake’s. There was no difference in pixel size, connectors, or brightness.
Hence, the only difference in the P1 and P2 Remakes are in the chip PCB color, and size. The screen, PCB layout, and fundamental processes are nearly identical.

that’s cool! Are they hard to take apart? I remember trying to debug my tamagotchi v 4.5. It was so scary trying to take apart and gave up x_x

Not at all. I can’t speak to anything more recent (connections, pix, etc.), but the P1/P2 Rereleases are very simple.

With a size 0 Phillips, take off the battery cover, then the battery itself. 4 screws will take the back shell off (make sure not to lose the reset button). 4 more smaller screws will get the PCB out. All that’s left is the buttons and the screen (with its plastic cover, connector bracket, and paper background). That’s everything!
