What do Toads eat? Me and my sister caught 2 baby toads. We named one Froggy and the other Jumpy. We put them in a shoebox and put water and grass. Now we need to know what they eat. So what do they eat?

Thanks,

How long are you planning on keeping them for? Small insects should work. But, if you keep them for over two weeks, they'll probably die. If you're planning on releasing them, you should get adult toads rather than babies.

Probably like a couple of days. My mom won't let us take them in the house. So we put them beside our door.

I think ants or a fly might be good. It will probably be hard to catch them though.

Please release them.

Toads are pretty delicate animals and the smaller they are, the harder it is to take care of them.

Ideally, they need to be in a large aquarium. You need to search for a LOT of food for them every day. It's quite a job.

I have had toads for many many years. But they are a lot of work.

Toads are cold blooded...meaning their body temperature is the same as the temperature around them. If they are being kept outside in a shoebox in even moderately warm weather...they will essentially boil to death inside that box. You need to convince your mom to let them inside the house, or release them very, very soon.

If you are allowed to keep them indoors, get them a tall-sided large Kritter Keeperor a 10 gallon glass aquarium with a lid, and fill it with about 2 inches of dirt. Give them a shallow water dish, and feed them LIVE small crickets that you can buy at the pet store. Toads eat a lot, I just fed my two tiny babies 24 tiny cricketsfor the second time this week. They can't go very long without food, either. Especially the babies, they will lose weight quickly. They're easy to keep as long as you feed them a lot of food frequently, and they have the proper housing. ;)

Hm..i think you should let it out right away, they won't have much room to move in the shoe bow,w will they?

I don;t think that's such a god idea.

Um..Like AH said, feed them live krickets and some flies.

They should be inside or let loose, and SOON.

I did today. Me and my sister decided to let them go. One just came in front of our house. It was Froggy. Could a guide close this topic?
