The V3 in this lot is fake. The real snakeskin has "connection" written underneath Tamagotchi and the text is white with a dark green border. Additionally, the battery warning label has red text as is pictured on the 4.5. This is all compared to my confirmed legit snakeskin. I've found nothing to say that there are alternate designs for snakeskin shell, so this is highly likely to be a fake. So far as I can tell, the V4.5 is legit. Seller is most likely not aware of the snakeskin status as counterfeit.

I'm pretty sure that's an authentic tamagotchi..

I already stated that it's fake when compared to my verified snakeskin. Photos are for reference purposes. This one was bought at a Target during the V3's production cycle. The only statement that I made that ISN'T proven by these photos is my sticker claim. I peeled it off several years ago when the edges began to turn up.

Points that are proven in these photos:

  1. Text colors are inverted on the listing.
  2. Missing "connection" under the phrase.
It's a convincing fake, but I'm not going to waste money buying it just to prove that the infrared isn't compatible with a legitimate Tamagotchi. This post was intended as a warning. Watching out for others. It's not a supremacist "I know more about Tamagotchis than you do" post that's vindictive toward people who think or believe that it's real.

*Hayden* I'm hoping that you weren't intending to be aggressive, though that was my perception. Please recognize that I'm not seeking any kind of revenge by replying or that I am attempting a confrontation, but I do seek to set the record straight by comparing the eBay images to a legitimate Tamagotchi.

Only some V3s released in the US have 'connection' written on them. Other US V3s, as well as all those sold in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region do not. It's not a fake.
