I got a vpet that's a hard to find dinosaur type one. However when I put the correct batteries into the vpet it shows up as dark pixels for a split second as it's "loading' aka turning on and then becomes so faint that I have to tilt the screen wayyyy up to see them

any idea what could cause this?

*1000th post! Woo*

Have you made sure that the batteries you're using are new? If not maybe using new one and branded one, not ones from the dollar/pound stores.

Also have you checked to see if there is no dirt or anything on the batteries cencors or the metal bit that the battery touches? If therenis id recommend cleaning it all of and then testing to see if the pets display improves.

Hmm... Maybe the voltage are too high? Check the batteries. They might be higher than needed so they produce more than they should because there's also extra voltage. And like what Jordboss said, make sure you get branded ones and not those cheap ones from dollar stores. It might cost a bit but it's better by 10x. Also, maybe there's a contrast setting like most Tamagotchis. Try and explore more?

if you are using cheap batteries that might be causing it. If there are any little sort of prongs in the battery compartment (like in the tama connections) you could try just gently lifting/bending them upward, it usually works for me when my tamas aren't responding to a battery correctly

Mine goes faint somtimes too Like the contrast on it. I had to adjust the contrast but when i changed the buttons on it then it was too dark to see. It can get complicated with what electronics do.

it's not a tamagotchi, it's a virtual pet of a different kind

I had already tried all the options you guys gave me above no luck unfortunately

Okay, whem dod the problem start to happen? The pet might have some dirt inside and need cleaning. If you haven't done so already, try cleaning it by taking it apart. Take extra care when cleaning the screen.

I always clean out the virtual pets when I get them, it wasn't working since i've gotten it

I guess the pet is broken then, and there isn't really anything you can do to fix it either. I thknk your best option is to contact the seller who you purchased off and see shat thsy say or purchase a replacement of this version.

nah they sold it as untested so i'm not going to bother them with it, I can still play it, it's just a large inconvenience but ah well

I'll probably mess around with it and still try to figure it out, I figured I don't really have anything to lose on it
