So what about one year? There's a girl I like, but our age difference is far more substantial. I'll be 23 is about a month, while she just turned 18. Sure, it's legal since she is over the age of consent and is legally an adult, but please note I've liked her for the past four years, when I was 19 and she was 14. I liked her then, and I still do now.
Point is, compared to what I'm going through, your little one year is small potatos. So, count your blessings and at least make an effort to persue a relationship, if you are ready.
