Story: I get to get my ears pierced either early in June with my friend or early July by myself. I have been looking into it and I have decided to get them done at Claires. The have a sale, it is to buy a starter kit and get the piercing free. They have a guide abut what they do qhen you get them pierced and it seemed nice.

 

Discuss: IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD KNOW BEFORE I GET THEM PIERCED AND WHAT KIND OF SYLES (OF EARINGS) SHOULD I GET OR LOOK AT????

normally when u get piercings from there they are either a plain golden or silver stud or you can choose your birthstone stud but when you do get them done try not to play with it much cause it can get infected and use a cotton ball or qtip.

to clean it then twist it around to clean it

also if you have long hair try and keep your hair in a ponytail for a few days help you from getting your hair suck in the piercing

First, you should know that you are only going to get studs. You are not going to be able to change them for about 4 months and you can't wear dangling ones for a while. Just don't worry and be calm when you get them done, it will be fine! <_<

Lobe piercings aren't to be changed for 4-6 weeks after the piercing.

8-12 weeks for Cartilage.

When I get mine pierced I usually just get a titanium or white gold 3mm or 4mm ball.

They have a lot of different studs you can choose from, but be careful about metals you might be allergic to.

I suggest getting a titanium earring when you first get them pierced. They're hypo-allergenic so there shouldn't be any irritation or infection.

Make sure you clean them around 3 times a day with the ear care solution they give you and never touch them with dirty hands. Make sure your hands are washed and then put some solution on a q-tip and clean around the piercing area. I don't recommend twisting them, but Clarie's will tell you to do so. Just once again, make sure your hands are clean when you do this.

There's a little bit of pain when you get the piercing, but it feels more of a pinch. Afterwards they may tingle or burn for a while and they'll be a bit red and irritated.

I think piercings are fun ^^ Just make sure you want them donr before you spend money on them.

It can irritate the skin around the piercing.

First of all, you've got to know that it takes more work than it seems to get an ear piercing.

If it's your first, remember to be cool about it.

It's not as bad as it seems.

It's just a little pin prick that only lasts for a second.

Look away if you have to.

The professionals know what to do.

You've got to be willing to take a break 2 times a day to check up on your studs.

Remember to clean around the stud 2-3 times daily!

Infections are no fun. Signs of Infection are redness, puss, swelling and crustiness around the piercing.

Try to keep products (such as hairspray) out of reach with your piercing, or it can irritate it.

Try to keep your hair away from the piercing so it does'nt get stuck. Earrings can rip out. Ouch.

A stainless steel, gold or silver stud will do the trick.

Keep your studs in for 4-6 months. No exceptions.

You don't want fake earrings that can irritate your sensitive ear area.

Remember that not everyone has sensitive ears like others, so you may not have to worry about getting a piercing after all.

DO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU!!!

~I do recomend twisting them because the less you rotate the earing the more things that will grow on the post and the more it will hurt when you twist them. Rotating your earings gets you used to the posts and prevents infections.

~Get sterling silver or gold posts because the cheaper the metal the worse time you will have with your earings.

~After 6 weeks of keeping THOSE earings in, you need to have earings (whatever you want) in for the next 6 months.

~Don't wear hooks until those months are over

~They will give you a solution/medicine that you have to put on daily and after everytime you get wet (like showering or get in the pool)

~Ask them (the piercers) for a recomendation for a medicine for the post. (THIS IS AFTER THE 6 WEEKS) What I do is when my earing are out and I put them back in, I use a medicine so my earings go in easier and it prevents infection

~Never skip out on what they say because there will be consequences, trust me. I've had my 2nd hole earings in for over a year and they still get infections.

~When you pierce them get them done at the SAME TIME! I don't recomend doing one ear at a time because after you do the first hole, you might have a feeling of not wanting the second ear done. When you get them at the same time the pain will go away much faster

~I recomend sterling silver or gold balls, no designs (like little flowers) or plastic jewels on the earing because it's not a good first earing for a freshly pierced ear

~After the 6 months keep earings in most of the time otherwise it will close up

~ THIS IS A MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY! ^,^

 

Infections cause: swelling, redness, puss, and crustiness.

Infections can result in: having to take the earing out and let the holes close, (if you pierced cartilage) removal of cartilage --- No fun

Prevent infection: choose recomended sterling silver, gold studs and follow all rules

-It will be a bit painful to get the piereced, and probably will be painful, red, and dry around your piercing for the rest of the day.

-Clean your newly pierced ears three times a day with the special alchohol they give you

-Do not change your earrings until the 4-6week period is over

-Don't wear hooks until the month periods are over.

-After 6months keep your earrings in most of the itme to avoid closure of the hole.

Ya well when you get them you only fill a little sting for about 5 seconds. Then they are totally fine. I got mine done 3 times first one I was 7, then 9, and then last summer when I was 11. And finally it worked because I got my ears peirced with 4carrot gold. And before it was silver. Because my ears were allergic to it or something and I have really sensitive skin! But now I am happy and have all sorts of earings! Al though I havent worn earings for like 2 weeks. Well anyways sorry for the life long story. But from that story I just thought you might want to see if you are alergic to any kind of metal. And then just get them peirced it berely stings. Then they will give you ear cleaning liquid to clean. Wash them 2 times a day. Then in about 4-6 weeks they will be ready to come out and change earings. WARNING: Be very carful when you take them out for the first time they might be very sensitive. So be carful. Then change them and if I were you I would wear earings that had the soft rubbery backs for about 1 week or 2. Then you can wear hard metal ones. And I cleaned mine for about 2 weeks once I changed them! Oh and make sure that you dont take your earings out at ALL when you get them! Because they will sow right back up! But I hope you have fun with them!

Plus, my experience with Claire's is that every time I got a piercing from them, it got infected. A better alternative would be to go to Piercing Pagoda, if there's one nearby. They use the exact same method, but they are trained professionals. If Claire's is your only option in the end, just remember that caring for it will be an absolute must.

Eh, I got my lobe piercing at a tattoo parlor, the dude who did it was scary, he got 6 piercings on each ear. But mine never got infected.

Do what everyone here tells you to do, we don't have to explain it a bazillion times, all I'll say now is clean them with the solution they give you.

I got my ears pierced at Icing, a store by Claire’s. They did a good job, just make sure that you are willing to spend time on cleaning your ears at least twice a day. Turning your earrings may hurt the first few days, but it will help in the future for the hole to heal a bit faster.

If this is your very first time piercing ears, then you might want to stay with the 14k gold, that way if you get other metals/plastics you won't get irritated with them. Gold is the easiest route to take, you might want to talk it over with your mom.

My opinion is to get the regular piercing if this is your first... this will give you an idea of how piercing really feels. <_< Cartilage piercing is a little more complicated and will hurt more, not sure if you want to go that way.

All in all, I think your ears will sparkle once you get them pierced. It's another way of sowing off your girly side. ^^

I got my ears pierced when I was 9 by Claire's. I haven't had any infections and I am almost 13. =]

Claire's a great at piercing, just remember: Twist the earing otherwise the skin will attach itself to the pole and it will hurt!

Keep your ear clean also. It's a good idea to clean your ears before you get it pierced.

Peircing Pagoda is the BEST place. I have had two holes done by them. The only reason i have an infection is because i didn't do what they told me

 

I got mine pierced when I was like six or eight and then again but I don't remember the age...

I have decided a few things

1 Claires DOES have a earing specialist So I WILL go there

2 (THIS ONE IS A QUESTION!) At Claires they have a selection of earings you can pick from when they make the hol and some of them are colourful and shaped and they say they are all hypo-alergenic and anyone can pick them for the ones that go in the hole. Is it safe still???

 

3 My friend got it doen at Claires and she sad it didn't hurt Wat was your pain level on a scale from 1 to 10, ten being the worse???
