It echoes of teenage heartache,

Which is the largest cliche in the book,

We've read the same thing a thousand times,

A tradition I'd think we've long shook.

The first poem like this I read,

Was in fourteen ninety-one,

Not even the first one I read was original,

Something I wish I'd never done.

It does not mention the solace of love,

Nor the happiness, joy, or death,

I cannot imagine how this boy would even exist,

Though it is not proof I request.

We have read one thousand of these poems,

And I'm afraid they're all the same,

And, I'm sorry if I'm mistaken,

But you never mentioned my name.
