Do Japanese DS games work on English DS consoles?

Um, this isn't exactly Tama related and maybe it belongs in non-TamaTalk but anyway, I'm thinking of ordering Tamagotchi Collection for DS but it's Japanese. Would a Japanese DS game work on an Australian Nintendo DS Lite? Wikipedia says it won't but I've heard of people who have Japanese Tama games. But perhaps they have Japanese DS consoles... I hope you can help.

Yup.

Note, I use an American Ds.

I own Yes! Precure 5, for the Ds.

The gba and gbc games work on the normal consoles too... Just to say.

The DS is not region locked.

The 3DS is, however.

Yes, It should work. The only ones that wouldn't work are the 3DS games because they are Region locked.

as for the normal DS, it should work fine

P.s. Aren't there any English Tamagotchi games too? I've heard of them.
