Difference between Japanese and English Tamagotchis?

Besides the language how can I tell the difference on a picture of a tamagotchi?

If you mean Tamagotchis like the Entamas and Version 4 which look similar, you have to go by either the packaging or the shell designs. Some shell designs are available in both languages though. You could also look at the back of the Tamagotchi, Japanese versions have a different back to the battery compartment that goes around the reset button instead of over it with a hole in it. I hope that made sense.

All the tamagotchis in the "Connection" series are always English, such as V3 or V4.5. There are a few other tamagotchis in english, but they are very rare and quite expensive, even if they're used.
