I got that vaccination. It was optional, but it lasts all your life and could save you from getting cervical cancer, so I figured, why not? It was one of the most painless shots I've ever had. It was just in my arm, and it hurt for about two seconds. My arm wasn't even sore the next day or anything. o_o It's really not bad at all....

Thankyou. I will tell my friend about that. I got an appointment aswell. I think I'm going to have it. I'm going to call my friend and say that other ppl are having the injection. Thank you! I had it.

First dose wasn't very painful.

Second hurt a lot.

Third was the most scary needle I ever had. I was hyperventilating and crying and one nurse was holding me down while the other stuck a needle in me.

But now I have lowered the risk of getting cervical cancer later on in life.

just so you know it is girls ages 9-24 so it is not to early to get the shots when you are 12. I am 12 and I already got all the shots. Most of the girls in my school did anyway too. Oh and it may hurt a lot but after half an hr. the pain goes away. Plus after my mom took me to Dairy Queen and that made it a LOT better!

Girls in grade 8 are required to have 3 HPV needles (which contribute to Cervical Cancer). Well, that's the way it works where I live. I just recieved my last needle a couple days ago.

Sure, those needles sting a bit. (I'm not trying to scare you)

But trust me, pretty please.

Getting the shots is much better than getting the cancer when you don't.

I got the guardisil(sp) shot at 17. It's not that bad.

If it'll help prevent some of the HPV causes, I'm fine with that.

I wouldn't be worried about it, and I seriously doubt you would have deformed kids. I'm thinking your mom is just paranoid.

If you're really worried about it, go look it up.

It's a series of three shots over the course of about a 8 months to a year if memory serves.

The shot itself isn't painful, but you may feel a bit sore afterwards.

I'd also like to point out that this statement is a complete load.

Thousands, if not millions of women have already had this shot. You're not the guinea pig in this situation.

We're talking about cancer.. Not pregnancy or birth control.

Also, cervical cancer isn't an STD. Sex isn't needed to get it. Hence why they're giving it to 9 year olds.

I think you meant the birth control shot, which even then you don't actually have to be sexually active to have. It helps to control(can't think of the right word) your periods.
