Yes, just connect like usual, and (like TamaMum said) they will fall in love. (But in your friends list, they will probably be Nazotchis regardless of the actual character.)

Yeah, mine did. It's funny, at first it's the v3 baby, then it enters the v4 screen as a Tsubutchi or Shirotsubutchi.
