Broken?!

Hi everyone I’m new to this, I have two 2004 tamagotchis I believe V2? And they will not work! I’ve tried new batteries just wondering if there’s anything else I can do to try and fix them! They both start up okay and then after setting the time they just shut off during the hatching stage… the screen gets a line across it and then goes totally dark… any ideas? I love these guys and don’t wanna lose them. They have been dropped a few times…

if all else fails you can take them apart, and put the shells on a re-released v2 screen?
