Best way to take care of a tamagotchi?

It's been about 6 or 7 years since i last played on my tamagotchi. I just restarted mine again, and my knowledge on them is a little rigid. What are the best ways to take care of my tamagotchi? Does buying items affect what character you may get? Should you only play games when the hearts are down? When exactly should i feed her? I have a v4.

Mainly just keep the hearts full and don't let them drop, and play games so your Tama isn't overweight.

Oh okay. That's a tough one. A bit more needy than other versions.

Bascially, unless you want a Universal character, you must do these things:

• Have all skill points up to 10 by the time your character is a teenager, and up to 20 by the time he/she is an adult.
• Keep the weight low.
• Don't let the hearts drop too much.

And yoiu should be okay after that. Good luck.

What I like to do is document the times that certain events happen, like pooping or hearts going down. The best way to do that is to keep track of the minute intervals between each time a heart goes down, and they won't change until your tama's stage does. They follow their routines like clockwork, so if you know when it's coming it's pretty easy to catch it.

You can also find growth charts online showing what characters you can get and how to get them, if you're particular about that.
