I doubt that America will get a colour version to be honest. There is no drive for Bandai America to shell out extra money to make a different unit when they could just get a greyscale version from Bandai UK.

As I'm fed up with Coffretchi already and I married her off today, I can't check if they stay forever, sorry.

But here you have some "news" related to marriage in TF:

 • The date place option is available on the doors option if your tama is 6 years (6 days) old
 • You have three partners to choose from, like in the color versions. There is no NPC, however
 • I couldn't see the animation very clearly because mom was impatient while trying to give me lunch, but there of course are fireworks and... a crowd, similiar to that we could see on music star during concerts.
 • After marriage, a spouse stays with our tama and we see an egg cracking. A baby, our tama's spouse and our tama stay on the screen, but you can't use the doors option at all (therefore you can't visit dream town...) and there is no animation of eating.
My coffretchi married Rightchi today and had a baby boy, I don't remember the name... That blue fluffy one.

EDIT: dang, seriously what's up with that version? I missed the animation and just noticed that the baby boy is already alone. There was no beep or anything. So they don't stay together for long.. I think it was an hour? Less probably.

YEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

This information made my day! Though my wallet isn't as happy. Between new Furby and new Tamagotchi it's going to be starving for most 0f 2014. I apologize for every bad thing I ever said about Bandai America! They really came through!

You and me both! The only (Albeit minor) gripe is that we have to wait until mid 2014 for the release of the new Tamagotchi. At least on my end, I'll have the Digimon Fusion toyline to look for at the end of this year and into 2014.

It's going to be an excellent year, methinks. Between this and some of the video game offerings that 2014 is bringing... oh my. :)

If America is getting a color version, I bet it'll be the ID L E. I wonder if Friends will even hit America, then.

In a way it makes sense, though. The UK got the ID L E before friends. I bet they'll do the same in the USA, have that first, test the waters on how well it sells, then release Friends afterwards.

But in a way that doesn't make full sense either, because the website for the USA is for Friends. So color me confused.

Maybe LIFE was the test, but people only got it because it was on the App Store and it was free..

Actually many people bought the ad free version from what I've seen. And they downloaded it because it's exactly like the original tama as well... (*#tamagotchi on tumblr war flashbacks with people calling nyorotchi a sperm*)

Nyorotchi the sperm jokes... Ugh, BanDai should've ditched him, replace him with whoever didn't make it to the P2 version (either Nyatchi or Pochitchi)

TAMAGOTCHI IS BACK
- Toy that sold 80 million units since its launch in 1996 is back to coincide with its 17th birthday -

Tamagotchi, the original virtual pet that’s sold almost 80million units worldwide, is being re-launched in the UK by toy manufacturer Bandai. Already predicted to be a best-seller 17 years on, the brand new Tamagotchi Friends will be on general sale from Boxing Day.

Tamagotchi became a playground classic following its launch in Japan in November 1996 and in the UK in May 1997. The new version of the toy has retained the classic 90’s look but now includes a short range communication function, a technology similar to that found in smartphones, which enables Tamagotchi owners to "bump" with other Tamagotchi Friends to send text messages, exchange gifts and even go on a date. The more they "bump" the more points and rewards will be earned also raising their best friend meter. It also includes new characters, five games, a pause function, on-off sound and will interact with the brand new Tamagotchi Friends website www.tamagotchifriends.com.

Tamagotchi Friends combines the nurturing features and simple play pattern of the original Tamagotchi. Owners must feed it food when it’s hungry, give it medicine when it’s sick, clean up after its been to the toilet and play games to earn ‘Gotchi’ points. Tamagotchi lovers can use their ‘Gotchi’ points to buy meals, snacks and jewellery in the shop.

Bandai Marketing Director, Darrell Jones, who worked on the original Tamagotchi launch comments, “In the 90s, Tamagotchi paved the way for a digital age in toys so we are incredibly excited to be giving the hugely popular, classic toy a modern day update. The innovative features, including the new characters and the short range communication ‘bump’ feature, will entertain a whole new generation of Tamagotchi fans. We're really looking forward to seeing Tamagotchi being welcomed into homes and playgrounds across the country, and once again becoming an important member of everyone's family.”

Priced at £24.99, Tamagotchi Friends are available to pre-order now from The Entertainer and Amazon and go on general sale 26th December from Argos, Smyths Toys Superstores, Toys R Us, Toymaster and other major retailers.

I got an email from Bandai UK

"Hi Coffretchi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The Tamagotchi will be on pre sale with Toys R Us, Amazon, Smyths, Tesco, Asda and Amazon as from 1st December. You will also be able to purchase these on launch date from independant toy stores.

Best regards,

Customer Services,
Bandai UK Ltd."

Amazon already have pre-orders, but Toys R Us, Smyths, Tesco and Asda will have them open too, which is awesome! I'm really excited. I'll probably force my boyfriend to drive me to Toys R Us the day after Boxing Day :b.

Here's something spotted from tumblr:

So according to this, it'll be around $20. With that gizmodo article, this makes it the second one to mention it at around $20. Hope it's true.

Ra,

Maybe its opening really soon, like when there's ribbons that people cut before a major store opens :D
