Angelgotchi dark screen?

I just received an Angelgotchi in the mail yesterday. I wanted the one with the special icons (with the butt with wings, etc). However the screen of it is super dark?? The contrast is way too high and I can barely see anything. I'm constantly tiling it and squinting. It's so bad it's unusable basically.

Is this just a problem with this one or are all them so dark?

Before I send it back I was just wondering if someone with this type of angel (special icons one) could confirm whether their screen is normal or not.

On the left is a regular icons angel, screen is perfectly normal. Right is the new one.

I dug up my second generation Angelgotchi (the one with the butt with wings toilet icon), and have pictured it alongside a first generation Angelgotchi (on the right). The contrast is indeed higher on the second generation (left), but by no means unusable, so I don't think all have super high contrast. I'm sorry to hear your angel's screen is so dark . Hope this picture helps you, and I hope you're able to get a replacement!

You could try changing the inner background. It might blur out the contrast a bit. Being that dark in an older one seems like it would have been stored/protected from factory/store etc. I would keep the darker one too. It would be easier to tell which one you were running.

Rom test comes to mind but I am not sure how to do that.

I thought about changing the inner background but I've done that before, better to leave it alone I think.
