Tonight I experienced a potential abduction at my work.

I was sitting outside the entrance to my store having a cigarette at the end of my lunch break. A man in a green car with Maryland license plates pulled up and asked to talk to me. Assuming he had a work/store related question I approached the car while keeping my distance.

As I walked toward the car I asked what he wanted. He then told me to get into his car so we could talk. At first I didn't quite process what he said so I asked him to repeat himself. He insisted that I get into his car. I told him no, but he kept pressing. He then asked, 'You don't want to talk to me?' I told him no and sat back down where I had been before.

I saw him drive off and go down a row of cars in the parking lot. A few minutes later he came back toward the entrance. I quickly put out my cigarette and went inside. There I spoke to a manager on duty and the woman in security. They scanned the parking lot at the time of the attempted abduction and couldn't find the car.

My manager and I went out to the parking lot to see if we could spot the car. We didn't know the type of car he was driving, but we knew it was a dark green, had a Maryland license plate and there was a black man driving it. As we neared the back of the parking lot, we saw him drive off toward Hwy 99.

The woman in security found the car and plate number on the tapes after we saw him drive off.

He was waiting for me to come out.

This is a warning to all women and girls. DO NOT go outside alone, and don't EVER walk outside alone. Especially at night. Always have someone with you. This happened at my work. Who's to say it wont happen at home or school?

I want people to know what happened from a real person with a real experience. Not some little made up story people read and repost. I don't want any other person to experience what I had to tonight, or to experience anything worse.

Please take care.

I apologize if this seems chain letterish. When I wrote this, it was meant as a repost message on Myspace. I want people to know what happened, and what CAN happen.

You told me about that earlier... I still can't believe that happened you you.

I'll be sure to take care- stay safe, guys.

I don't think I'm ever taking the bus again... I never felt to comfortable doing it but I won't ever take a bus again. Glad to know your safe, that must have been pretty scary.

Off Topic:Sweet_Kandi you work at Wal*Mart? Just Curious what do you do there? I'm a Cashier for Wal*Mart.

thanks for caring enough to tell us to be alert and never alone. that shows u have a true heart! Thanks, i will really be on the look out, and ill be safe!

That's just it, most people don't think it'll happen to them or their friends, that it only happens to people they don't know, etc.

I can't say I've had anything like that happen to me, but I tend to be with someone at all times anyway.

That's quite scary 0__0 espececially since we all know SK isn't exactly one to be picked out for potential weakness from a crowd.

I am so sorry!

That would FREAK ME OUT!

But i dont think i have to worrie about it,..

i dont live ANYWHERE near Washingtion (the state)

It's not just Washington that has predators, they're everywhere, in every state... You just never know.

Thanks for the cautionary tale.

It's stories like this that get you thinking but don't be afraid to go out and do things, it's stuff like this that should get you thinking and maybe practicing in your mind how to handle things like this.

If you really feel threatened, take self defence classes or karate. It's great exercise and you meet some interesting people.

Thanks for sharing your story SK. ^_^

It happens anywhere and everywhere.

Just because you don't live in Washington doesn't mean you're safe.

I've been thinking about taking self defense for a long time, but we don't have the money for it x.x

Wow, that would be scary. I'm really never outside by myself, except when I'm walking home from the bus stop. And I only go outside at night to get my dog from my neighbor's house.

I'm glad you're okay!

I'm glad that you are safe, Sweet Kandi ^_^ I hope that no abduction attempt ever happens to any of the members here. We would not like to lose a member from this wonderful environment ^_^

Oh wow! I am so glad you are safe.

I would have been so scared!

I walk home so... o_o
