MY FLORIDA VACATION LOG!

Hello everyone! This is Retrotamagotchi! I've never done a log before, and this is a different kind. You see, each year, my family likes to take a three-week long vacation to Florida. We always stay for about two weeks at Disney World, and about one week at some beach resort.

This year is just the same, except this time, I wanted to show off The Happiest Place in the World to someone. I didn't want to show everyone, just a good group of people. And hey, guess who that might be? TamaTalk!!!!

Everday, I will be taking photos of the amazing things I encounter on my journey and at the end of each night, I will be writing a post under this topic telling what happened, along with a few photos.

Note: I am going to put all photos in the form of short, quick URL's.

Sadly, I will not be departing on my vacation until November 30. So I am posting this part of the log in advance. I want anyone to post their questions, comments, or requests about it under this topic.

(I also might even forget I wanted to make a log by then!)

Aaah, I've never been to Disney World but I really want to go! I have been to Florida though, near Daytona Beach. Definitely a fun vacation spot. Hope you enjoy your trip!

YAY!!! It's offically 3 days until You-Know-What! WOO HOO!!!

I've got my bag packed (don't worry I'll be taking more than just my tamagotchis), and I'm trying to clean our mini-van out.

We'll be driving, like we always do, which is a very toturous fact. My parents are too scared to fly. -_-

Ugh, time for limited bathroom breaks and cramped legs. At least I'll get away from this cold weather that's been looming around. Plus, we can stop at other places along the way!

EDIT: instead of posting at the end of each day, I'll be updating this log whenever I can. So you'll know that right at that moment, in a place called Disney World, a certain kid is having a wonderful experience.

AAAH!!! It's the night before . . . our big vacation! DUN DUN DUN! We just loaded all our suitcases and bags into our mini van, ready for tomorrow. I'm so excited I wonder if I'll be able to go to sleep tonight!

Day 1

Hey hey hey! Today's the day! My mom was really pooped out, so we got up around 5:00 p.m. Plus, she needs her energy because she'll be the one doing all the driving! So currently, I'm sitting in my car seat, surrounded by tall towers of suitcases and bags. I've got my neck pillow, my tamagotchis to keep my un-bored, and a fun brain teaser. There's even a TV screen back here (to play exciting movies so my mom wil stay awake)!

Unfortunately, I'm currently living off of public Wi-Fi hotspots to update this log, since I'm using an iPad.

Oh well. I'll get through this leg of the trip.

We'll be starting our journey in The Bluegrass State, aka Kentucky. We'll be passing through Tennessee, Georgia, and then to Florida!

By the way, did you know that Walt Disney first began building Disney World in 1964? He sure got it done quickly!

UPDATE

*yawn.* Wow are we dead-dog tired! We just checked into a Holiday Inn Express in the middle of Tennessee. We're usually half-way through Georgia by now, but we got a super late start, so yeah.

But I'm sure we'll get to Disney in time--because we have to! Lol. :lol:

Sigh. I hope y'all enjoy this log; I'm pulling strings like crazy trying to get my parents to unlock my iPad. They say I'm "obessed" and "addicted."

Day 2

Whoops! Sorry I'm late updating this. Couldn't find any Wi-Fi hotspots. Anyway, we got up around 12:00 p.m. today, checked out, and ate a big breakfast at a nearby O'Charleys. Then, it was time to get back on the long highway.

As went along the winding road, our ears popped with sickening pressure, but it was all worth it--because we were coming near the Great Smokey Mountains!

DAY 3

WOO! WE ARE HERE!

They even have free Wi-Fi! *does happy dance.* A few hours before we got here, we passed the glowing city of Atlanta (not the underwater one), Georgia. Nature sure is beautiful, but the city can look pretty neat, too (especially if it's eco-friendly).

Anyway, around 5:00 a.m. today, we finally saw the sign saying we were entering Orlando, FL! After paying for two tolls, I finally saw the great Disney archway. I wanted to take a photo, but I couldn't get a good shot. It had Minnie Mouse on the left end, and Mickey Mouse on the right end. The rest was colored purple.

Did you know they even have their own Fire Department? It was so cool! I'll try to take a picture when the Sun's up and I can see better.

Even cooler, we're staying on Disney property, at a resort called "Old Key West." It's the oldest resort at Disney, and the rooms are so big!

The villas are even on the outside, and we have to drive to special buildings. They have no elevators, so if someone wants to stay on the second or third floor, they'll have to be prepared to climb a lot of stairs while lugging a lot of baggage. That's why my mom requested first floor. They also have a nice hospitality house, which has a small "General Store," a lobby to check in, and a restaurant dubbed "Olivia's Cafe."

In our bathroom, there's one section with a large bathtub with jets and a tiny sink area, and in another part there's a tiny shower and a big sink area. Hope Mom packed the bubble bath soap!

We're tired, but at 4:00 p.m. today, we're scheduled to eat at a fancy buffet called "The Crystal Palace." It's at the Magic Kingdom park, and their food is actually very delicious. I'm not gonna ruin it all right now, but stay tuned!

Also, did you know that each year, 2.5 million mouse ear hats are sold at Disney World?

NOTE: This is not meant to be a Brag Book. I am not trying to be snobby, cause jealousy, or attention to my vacation. I just thought it'd be fun to make a public log of it (yeah I did do some advertising for this, a thing I regret).

Actually, that's why we mostly use the internet. To give and get attention. Still, I'll try not to brag or anything. I sometimes can go over-the-top on details.

UPDATE

Whoa! What a day! We went to the Magic Kingdom park at around 4:00 p.m. and ate at the Crystal Palace. There, you get to eat tasty food like seasoned broccoli, salmon, Morracan chicken, jasmine rice, etc. Whil you eat, you can even meet Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore!

When you first come into the park, you'll se a big garden filled with flowers in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I should've taken a photo, but I forgot--I'll try to snap one the next time we go in a few days. After you enter the park, there's a long street of shops, all lined with bright, clear lights for the holidays. It's called Main Street U.S.A., and they have everything you could imagine for Disney! Aside from that, there's five other sections to Magic Kingdom: Fantasy Land, Tomorrow Land, Liberty Square, Frontier Land, and Adventure Land.

People who stay on Disney property can have access to special late-night times, called Magic Hours. Today, it was 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. To take advantage, we went to Adventure Land, where we rode a ride that inspired the Pirates of the Carribean movies. You can ride in a boat and travel through the scenes of ruthless pirates searching for the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow.

There was also the Enchanted Tiki Room, a short show performed by robotic birds, singing while hanging from the ceiling on perches. Here's a photo of the outside! https://j.mp/1IqABZu

At Fantasy Land, we "soared" with Peter Pan, a ride that is constantly busy. They changed the waiting area to look like Wendy and her brothers' bedrooms after they went to Neverland and came back.

There's even a new Snow White roller coaster, where you travel through the dwarfs' mines and see jewels sparkle, glitter, and gleam. It was super wild, and I and Mom screamed like little girls all the way through!

You can even go Under the Sea with Ariel, and ride in a "clam shell" while her seabird friend Skuttle tells her story.

At 9:00 p.m., there a cool parade called the Electrical Parade. Floats with the Disney characters roll by, all of them lit up like crazy with colored lights. Even the characters on board have their costumes covered with glowing bulbs!

We didn't eat or go in this year, but they just built a new castle! This one is the Beast's home, from the iconic 1991 film. We ate there last time, and inside, each room is themed, one with snow falling against the windows, Belle's library, and even a spooky one in which the Beast found out he got turned into a beast. I think that's about it . . . oh wait! At the end of each night, the Magic Kingdom explodes with colors and booming for the Wishes firework show. Here is a photo! I'll get a better shot of the castle when we go back. https://j.mp/1IqBh12

But hey, Disney World isn't all fun and games. It can get scary, with those giant mobs of people and the possiblity of getting lost. That's what happened to us! When I wanted to stop and take a pic of the Enchanted Tiki Room, my mom had to go to bathroom so bad that she couldn't wait on me. So she told us we could stay right there, and she would go to the bathroom and go back track to where I and Dad were. We thought we were being nice when we decided to go after her so she wouldn't have to walk back, but we were wrong. Lost in the sea of humans, we couldn't find the bathroom, and when we finally did, we realized she wasn't in there! Dad called her cell phone and left a message, but then we realized: Mom left her purse (and phone) with us!!!

We went back to where we were, and there she was, angry and upset. She said she went back and forth four times looking for us! Oh well!

It was around 1:00 a.m. when we got back to our resort, and we were already hungry by then! So we stopped off at Speedway and bought two veggie pizzas. Yum! Sadly, we have to move to a new building tonight because workers were doing construction so much and so loud that my mom couldn't get to sleep yesterday.

And they'll still be doing it everyday for awhile, so yeah.

Tomorrow, we'll go to Epcot! A park in which you can see the world in one place!

By the way, did you know that Disney World has about 62,000 cast members?

DAY 4

Today, we went to Epcot, a park in which you can travle the world in one place. First, at around 4:00 p.m, we went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant called the Garden Grill. It's inside a big pavillion, and all the food they serve is natural and grown there. We had turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, broccoli, tilapia, etc. But you know the thing that makes this place really special? It moves! The booths are arranged in a large circle, and if you sit on the outside of the circle, you'll notice that the circle slowly moves in a counter-clockwise direction. It takes about an hour to move around once. We also got to meet Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto in farmer outfits.

After that, we decided to ride a ride called "The Land," which shows differnet farming techniques.

Then, we decided to visit a few countries. We saw England, France, Canada, Japan, and Morroco. At England, we browsed their fancy shops, with one of them being a Wholockian's dream. At Canada, they had a big chalet-style castle, with a waterfall next to it! Their gift shop was woodsy, with stuffed beavers and bears. In France, my mom and dad each drank a glass of black current champagne. The funny thing was, Dad was right behind me, and I backed up a bit and accidentally made him spill half of his champagne! They also have a caferteria-like patisserie, with macaroons and other sweets. There's also a replica of the Eiffel Tower.

I always like Japan, because of their giant gift shop full of "kawaii" things. Hello Kitty, dog-shaped paper clips, puzzle erasers, origami, but guess what? They don't have any tamagotchis!!!

They really should. I mean, that's like one of the most famous Japanese toys!

After all that, we rode in an elevator to the balcony of the Japanese building and watch IllumiNations, a brilliant firework show. You see, there is a big lake, and all the countries encircle it. At the center of the lake, there's a big globe. When the show starts, the globe lights up, and the continents and pictures are projected onto it. Fire leaps from the water, and the sky lights up. At one point, people, in their own language, say, "Peace on Earth," and right when you think that's the end, even more fireworks explode. At the end, there are so many that the air becomes smokey, and the booms and crackles are so loud it's almost deafening. Finally, when that's over around 10:00 p.m., the leftovers are millions of sparkles that over in the sky for a few seconds.

We'll go again next week, and I'll try to take a photo of it if we see it again.

After going shopping at a grocery story, we were already hungry, so mom fixed some yummy soup and hot chocolate.

Tomorrow is our free day. We'll probably go to Downtown Disney and go bowling at their new bowling alley!

By the way, did you know that 54 million cubic feet of soil was dug up to build Epcot?

DAY 5

Ugh. So sorry I forgot to post last night!

Anyway, last yesterday around 9:00 p.m., we went to Downtown Disney, now called Disney Springs. I liked the previous name better. Even worse, their small parking lot have been turned into three giant garages! -_-

They're digging up land and space for some lame reason. I have a feeling Walt Disney would not appove.

Beside all that, we went to The Boathouse, a delicious restaurant near the lake. While waiting for a booth, we browsed around some nearby shops, including a tea place, and a hat place, where mom forced me and dad to get three matching safari hats for the zoo. They're expensive and are supposed to do a bunch of things. They look ugly to me. Afterwards, we looked at the restaurant giftshop, where they had many boat-related things, including shirts and pants and even a giant display full of different rubber duckies! They has turkey, panda, kangaroo, elf, lol.

We ate, while I had a yummy pasta dish with veggies, and my parents had salmon. By the time we got done, it was around midnight, so we couldn't do anything else except go home, because that's when Disney Springs close.

The next day, we went to my favorite park. Can you guess? Oh yeah! It's Animal Kingdom!

By the way, did you know that 5 Disney Lands can fit into the massive parking lot of Magic Kingdom in Disney World?

DAY 6

Today was a very adventurous day. Around 12:00 p.m., we went to Animal Kingdom, obviously my favorite park. There are several sections to it: Dino Land, Asia, Africa, South America. I think there's more but I can't remember them. We didn't see many animals, but we did eat at a restaurant called Tusker House, with authentic African food. You get to meet Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy in safari costumes. I always like it, though my parents seem to always feel sick after eating it. They say it's over spiced.

Anyhow, after doing that, I really wanted to ride Expedition Everest, which is a very very wild roller coaster that goes backwards. You must go inside a fake mountain and encounter the horrifying yeti. I never rode it before, but my mom felt too sick.

But we did get to see a tiger, some storks, and a very naughty squirrel. It was trying to get the food from a parked stroller!

We also got to meet Baloo and King Louie from The Jungle Book. Then we traveled through a path, encountering large bamboo stalks that rustled against each other with the wind. We saw very active fruit bats, hanging upside down and walking along the branches! Next, we went to Dino Land, and rode a crayzy ride called Primeval Spin, there are lots of sharp turns and deep drops, where you're like travelng back in time right before the meteor hit that destroyed the dinosaurs. We also rode a ride where you climb into a triceretops and make it fly in the sky.

For some reason, even if we walk around for just a few hours, it always wears us out quickly, probably because of the rough terrain.

Around 6:30 p.m., we were craving milkshakes so we went to Wilderness Lodge, a resort and ordered the bottomless shakes at their restaurant. But they weren't very good.

Tasted like whipped cream. We went back to our villa and Mom made us some turkey burgers.

DAY 7

Yesterday was pretty much a do-nothing day. No fancy restaurants booked, no parks to wear ourselves out at. Of course, we judt didn't lie around all day. We went resort hopping, going to different hotels and shopping at their gift shops. First we went to the Gramd Floridian, which is supposed to be stled after the Victorian era. All the structures are just about white, and their big and have intricate swirls and flowers. Inside, there's a large Christmas tree, along with a massive house made from real gingerbread! You can get holiday goodies from it, but you're not allowed to take a bite from the house.

At around 3:00 p.m., we had a very proper at English tea at the Garden View Tea Room. It's small, but very quaint, where one can order many different mixtures of exotic teas and delicate pastries. La la la. First, we had a cheese plate with fruit and a honey comb, then multi-grain crackers with more cheese and grapes, along with finger sandwhiches and an onion tart. Next was a raspberry jam tart and a yellow raisin biscuit, with different toppings. Finally, we had a small eclaire, an edible swan, and a strawberry dipped in pink icing with candy balls. I didn't like the icing so I broke it off, lol.

Next, we went shopping, but didn't buy anything. So we took a birdcage-like elevator to the second floor to ride the monorail. It's like a futuristic train that runs on a very narrow track propped up into the sky by concrete beams. It doesn't go as fast as you'd expect, and it doesn't hover (yet). We rode in it for a few minutes and stopped off at the Contemporary resort, which is new and has lots of modern places to stay. After browsing around there for awhile, we got back on the monrail.

We then headed to the Polynesian Village resort, kinda based off Hawaii. We stayed there a long time ago, and you are even greeted with a fake flower lei when you check in. The remodeled it not-so-long-ago, and now they have bungalows.

Finally, we we got hungry around 10:00 p.m., so we ate a Cítricos, a fancy dinner restaurant at the Floridian. They kept screwing up our order, so it took awhile. We wanted to do bowling, but it was too late.

We decided to return to our villa at Old Key West.

The next day, we went to Magic Kingdom again.

Also, did you know that Disney World has been closed only 5 times in its history?
