My name is Maisutatchi. Everyday I do the same thing. It was actually pretty dull, but I'm used to it. I sighed and leisurely stepped into the entrance of the crowded bus. Like I said, this is pretty much a daily thing for me, as I had no other method of transportation. I glanced up and realized that the same girl that always sat across from me was there as usual. I never thought to ask for her name, or even start up a conversation, even though we saw each other constantly. I'll admit, she was pretty decent looking. In my opinion, anyways. I remembered a story saying that if you capture a photo of someone and keep that picture for a week, the person will talk to you. I know, it sounds crazy, but I might as well try it. I grabbed my phone from my bag and quickly snapped a picture before anyone noticed. Mind you, this was a pretty popular story that was going around the University I go to, so I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has tried this. Shortly after I put my phone away, her and I stepped off the bus. We were finally at our destination, Gotchi University. I walked briskly to my class hoping my Instructor wouldn't realize I was late. That girl's class was further down the hallway, so I didn't see her as I stepped in to class. I quietly walked up to a row of seats, surveyed the room, and sat next a friend of mine, Warutsutchi.
"Why are you late, Maisutatchi?" scoffed Warutsutchi.
"Well, er, there's no reason." I responded in an annoyed tone.
She gave me that same look that she had always given me when I wouldn't tell her something. I ignored it and pulled out my phone to check if the photo came out decently. I went through my pictures, looked at it, and nodded to myself. It actually came out pretty nicely! I guess I had been staring at it for a bit too long, since Warutsutchi was now glancing over my shoulder to see what I was looking at.
"Wait a second, you have a picture of Yukinkotchi on your phone? That means.."
I covered Warutsutchi's mouth before she could say anything else. How was I going to explain that I actually believed that story? I mean, it is a bit odd to just take a picture of someone. It was even creepier considering I didn't know her name was Yukinkotchi until now. I sat there and contemplated how I would cover this up.
"I.. Um.. My phone's camera went off for no reason, I wasn't trying to take that picture!" I explained to her.
"I get it! You have a crush on her! I mean, why else would you believe that stupid story." shouted Warutsutchi.
"No, it's nothing like that! I swear, I told you it was an accident." I shouted back.
"Don't worry about it Maisutatchi, I'll try to get her to talk to you!" she announced cheerfully.
I thought about what she had said. That might just work. At least I hope it works..
