I saw a similar topic regarding this issue but I didn't want to 'butt in' to their topic. Thus, I made my own.
I am having a major problem with my V2. I'm lucky if I get a full 24 hours out of it. You'll find out about my tamagotchi below.
Here's my V2's backstory, if anyone's interested.
I got my tamagotchi v2 from ebay about a year ago. It came in a very thin package and it was just stuffed in a packet of cat food (without the food in it.) I opened the cat food box and got out my tama. That's when I got it.
When I went to connect with another one of my tamagotchis, I noticed something was wrong. It wouldn't connect. (This isn't my problem.) I thought it was weird but didn't take it further. I made a topic about it several months ago in the help section.
I played with it for a good few months until the batteries ran out. I took out the batteries and didn't put new ones in as I was running other tamas.
Then came the period I lost interest in tamagotchis [January-April.]
I got back into tamagotchis in April, but I did it slower this time. I didn't play on this one until the following month.
This could be where I've gone wrong.
In Mid June of this year, I decided to take the connection issue a bit further. I got my screwdriver and unscrewed the four screws with my screwdriver. I did it very carefully and I didn't break the casing.
Then I opened it up and it was in hideous condition. The connection bulbs were literally out of place and they were broken. I knew instantly that was the problem. I did nothing else to my tama. I didn't touch anything else. I just fiddled with the IR part a bit.
After about 5 minutes investigation, I concluded my experiment and put the tama back together. I noticed the shell was still a tiny bit not snapped back together. (The 2 shell halves looked like they had a tiny gap. Unconcerned, I put it all back together and put in a battery.
It took me a good while and some screeching from the tama to get it to power on.
This battery was used from another tamagotchi. I decided to run this tama again since I now knew where the problem with the connection was coming from. It worked for about one day but then I noticed the flashing X appeared on the screen. I was shocked since it had only been a day. I tried downloading it but it still had that X. I just took the battery out and left it for a few weeks.
I went down and bought a fresh pack of Duracell batteries on Saturday. They were the best kind of batteries you could ask for. They were CR2032s. I put one of them into my tamagotchi. It was hesitant to even wanting the battery in it's slot but it went in there eventually. Everything looked and acted normal. Again, it was fine for about a day and the X appeared. And this is where I am now. It's still got the X now. I was wondering why it's doing this. Maybe I screwed it up when I opened it up, but I don't see how, as I mentioned before, I didn't touch anything or break anything. Maybe it's because the shell's not back together properly. Or maybe the battery toggle is in a bad position.
Note: In my possession, this tamagotchi has never been dropped in water, dropped on a hard surface, debugged or otherwise 'hurt.' I don't know about the previous owner.
If you think you know what's wrong with it, please reply.
