Have you ever had a digital pet for a while (year or so) and learn something way later? Or learn something vital or find a strange character?
I did. I did a face-palm when I figured it out. Not only because it was so simple but I have had it for ten years.
A D-3 digivice. I have two but both of them I haven't "beat" because I lost digi-eggs and couldn't get more, even with the 1st version slot game. The count thing before you go to battle an enemy digimon. I never noticed if you shake it you get more power for that battle. I was messing around with it trying to speed the process of the battle.... noticed when I stopped shaking for a moment the power wasn't Zero, it was 20... I wasn't shaking very hard oviously. Then it hit me..... Oh I shake this thing to give them power. I felt stupid for not noticing that in the 10 years I've been playing with them both. That prooved very helpful battling the first boss and the dude at 14,000 on the 1st version.... pufft.
