OK i'm sure most of you know what global warming is.

Anyway El niño is a weather pattern that happens every few years. It causes Australia to have colder waters when it usually has warmer waters and Peru to have warmer waters when usualy they have colder waters. Peru was first affected by El niño because fishermen noticed that they didn't catch any anchovies when usually they caught millions of them. The fish like colder waters so they left the coast of Peru to find colder waters to live in then came back when the normal water temperature for Peru came back.

El Niño is a disruption of the ocean-atmosphere system in the Tropical Pacific having important consequences for weather and climate around the globe
^ The above quote I found on a website ^

That quote basically explained what El niño is.

Not only Australia and Peru are effected by this terrible weather change. Everyone is.

Australia suffers drought while Peru has rain and flooding.

A woman experienced the damage of an El niño disaster.

She was married and in her neighbour's house when she was thrown out a window in a mudslide and has said she thought she was going to die and that she remembers trying to breathe.

Her husband unfortuneately did not survive.

Wikipedia has said that Australia may be in drought because of a current El niño.

OK, its not just El niño i'm here to talk about. Its global warming.

What does global warming have to do with El niño?

Everytime an El niño comes around the Amazon rainforest experiences hot weather and dies. The Amazon rainfoest in Brazil absorbes 20% of the worlds carbon dioxide and this beautiful rainfoest is being cut down. Global warming is making El niño more frequent and this has been proved. So If El niño is more frequent and El niño is killing the Amazon rainforest. imagine what would happen to the Amazon if El niño was permanent?

Scary, Right?

For more information See Wikipedia

Thank you

I didn't realise that it was effecting the sea's temperature! It's much worse! Our drought probably won't end for years!

We are slowly fixing the problems though. Sunrise (the morning news program) finished a thing to reduce greenhouse gas about 2 weeks ago, and they supposedly got rid of over 10 tonnes of greenhouse gas or something like that. Pretty impressive, if they are the real figures.

Atleast El Nino thing isn't perminent! If it was, our world would never be the way it is today!

Actually *~Jess~* The El Nino is getting weaker thankfully but there is more to come.

I actually hard on a video we watched at school that we may be in danger of experienceing a mega El nino which is much worse than a normal El nino... Thank you for the reply!

I think its terrible... :(

I think a lot of the trees, and I love nature, and its awful that the forest is being cut down...

Something has got to get done... ^_^

Oh, and about those adverts about Global Warming...I watch them all the time. And all the poor polar bears are going to die without enough ice...

What's the world coming to? If only we could cut down on polloution... :)

A MEGA EL NINO! It would be much much worse than a regular one, right? Longer droughts, deeper sea levels, colder and hotter temperatures?! That would be really bad! Imagine all the homeless and poverting countries in those conditions!? We would have to make way more Poverty Aids and more Red Cross donations.

Ok, I love nature and all, but I've replied to too many of these topics just to get flamed. So here's what I'm going to say.

Some of us believe that global warming isn't real. Some believe that it's just a normal cycle. Some think that it is real, but there is no way to stop it. And then there are the smart people who have realized that it's real, it's happening right now and we need to do something about it.

The concept of global warming is scary. But you know what? Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes, so you need to get off your butt and work. What if it's too hard? Then remember: Nothing worth having in this world comes easy.

I think I remember once having a link in my signature that was a petition funded by World Wildlife Fund which was to the Australian Government...I think the topic was "Firm Targets to Reduce Greenhouse Pollution". If anyone wants the link, just PM me. I can't be bothered to find the link right now.
