There is no fixed time, but don't pause your tama and the [!] will come eventually.

The v3 doesn't get mail.. Thats what happened with my v4 -- with the !

The v3 doesn't go to preschool. Only the v4 and v4.5 have that feature.

Okay, thanks ^_^ I wasn't sure, but they def go to the higher up school? ^^ Uhh-- how do they get jobs? I'm sounding like a noob here, but don't they have stats like v4s? >.>

No, they don't. The jobs and school options don't show up until the V4. You can view the instruction manual for the V3 HERE in the Reference section of the Library (where you'll find instruction manuals for all the other Tamagotchis as well).
