v3 and v4 connection glitch

I connected my v3 to my v4 and sometimes when i did it, it only caught on my v4 and the v3 said 'fail'. The v4 played th game on its own. What causes this and how do you fix that?

This happens to me across a lot of versions. I don't know whether this happened once to you or multiple times but when it happens to me it's just once.

I think it's one receives the connection before the other so when you pull them away the other doesn't receive it. That's how it seems with me. Also when you connect them, one is a little behind the other. So if your v3 had connected that would've been the one to be a little behind.
