Beep Beep. I groaned. My eyelashes fluttered open revealing the sunlight streaming through my windows. "Morning already?" I muttered as I began to get dressed. I checked my tamagotchi, a beautiful memetchi named Luna. She pooped, so I cleaned it up then snuck her into my backpack as I darted down the stairs. "You'll be late if you don't hurry, so take this on the way to school with you." my mom said, handing me a buttered piece of toast in a napkin. "Love you," I said as I kissed my parents goodbye.
I stumbled up the front steps of Pacific Coast Junior High. I ran to my locker and unpacked my stuff, snuck Luna into my boot, then darted for the math classroom. Out of breath (it's a pretty big school) I quickly walked in and found an empty seat next to one of my best friends, Jordan. "Late again, miss Anderson." spat my math teacher, Mr.Terban. As I hunkered down in my chair, I replied "I'm sorry, Mr. Terban, but I slept in. I had a late night." Mr.Terban snickered. "And exactly what could be so important that you must sacrifice a good night's sleep?" he persisted. I was silent for a moment, then I replied, "I don't really think that's any of your business." Jordan's mouth grew wide, along with half the classes' and Mr. Terban's. He pointed to the door. "The principle's office, NOW!"
After school, Jordan, my other best friend Chloe and I were sitting at the tables outside the school doing homework. "Alex, you totally took him down!" exclaimed Jordan. I smiled. "I was just standing up for myself." Chloe laughed. "Well you sure did it in a courageous way." she said as she took a bite of her apple. Remembering Luna, I took off my boot and retrieved her, then replaced my boot. I looked at her. I fed her, played Climb with her, then sent her back to the spot in my boot. "You know," I began," There's a sale at the mall today. We should go." Jordan looked disgusted. "I need more guy friends." He muttered. Chloe and I laughed.
Chloe sighed. "I still don't think it's fair that you have detention on Monday." I shrugged. "I guess if you do the crime, you gotta do the time." But you didn't do a crime. You were just standing up for yourself." Chloe replied, taking another bite of her apple. "Hey, I'm gonna go throw my apple core away." "Ok." Jordan i said in unison.
We watched as she walked over to the trash cans, trip over a rock, and fall face flat on the ground. Chloe didn't move. Jordan and I began to run over to her. "I think she's just knocked out." Jordan said. But we knew it was much worse than that when we saw a big stream of blood running from her head.
